So i just found the guy freeloading in a village telling everyone he is a witcher and he will kill the "evil" ghoul (oh no...a ghoul xD) on the graveyard.

i rescued him from the ghul. and he tells me he got the wolf-amulet from a wandering merchant.
thats it.. no follow up to find the merchant. no try to identify who was the original owner of the amulet... kinda anti-climatic.

imo the amulet was something very special to the witcher (showing the school they are from - f.e. cat, bear, griffon or wolf. it helps them feeling magic/monsters around them and so on)
this quest had so much potential...yet it was a simple "slay 1 ghoul and tell the village people that they were ripped of by an imposter"

i feel kinda..unsatisfied about this one

pls dont misunderstand, the game is great. works just fine for me (40h in and no crash/bug and so on)..but this was my very first time, where i wished for something more :(

I agree.

Agreed but doubt anything can be changed about it now

Yes, missed opportunity.... but lots of other side quests got nice twists to them so can't really bash writers too much.

Its one of those quests that appear with ! on the map, they are usually 1 minute long and have zero inpact or whatever.

I agree with this, I thought the exact same thing. If it was in fact a genuine Witcher's amulet, where did it come from and who was this Witcher?

also I find it funner everyone you meet knows what a witcher is and what they look like how is this village so dumb not to realize the eyes?

A witcher wouldn't give up their medallion or allow it to be "lost" as they're almost irreplacable and the only means that witchers have of casting signs. Chances are that a medallion turning up out of the blue likely means that the original owner is dead (though if it's a Wolf medallion I guess it could ironically be Geralt's original one. I forget where that ended up.) If there's no other information in-game about the owner of it, I guess you're expected to take the dialog at face-value.

I also expected it to have a follow up. But then there are also nice 1 minute meetings where you help someone who was robbed or has no money and about 50 hours later in the game you ride into a village and he or she is there and reminds you of this and gives you some money. That is sweet.

It wasn't a real wolf's head medallion. It had no magical power. It was just a cheap knock-off. If it was the real thing I'm sure Geralt would have investigated further.

Yeah, as soon as I saw the Wolf medallion I was expecting the quest to evolve into something meatier (like when you find the traps in one random empty village and then LETHO shows up. Instead it's just a minor throwaway quest.

Geralt's snark is hilarious though. "Yes, I am a real witcher. What gave it away, the fact I didn't piss myself at the sight of one lousy ghoul? Oh, and nice fighting style - which school are you from? The Snail?" :D

I agree with this assessment. Geralt would have recognized if the medallion was authentic or not. If it was, I doubt if he would have let it go as easily as that. Geralt would at least confiscate the item and bring it back to Vesemir. Think of the medallions as "dog tags" for the military if you will.

On another note, I found one of the simple rescue mission a little bit more than I had expected. One of the quest had me helping a random guy that pushes a cart of people who died from some sort of disease. I thought it was over when I finished rescuing him from the monsters. I later found him somewhere else and this time it was alot harder to make up my mind :(

sorry for Necro... but I made him bury the amulet and renounce his trade/being a witcher, because he "asked a brother for help" ... then made him pay off his debt by working at the village for a year... LOL

Dont ♥♥♥♥ with witchers

Was a pity however that we could only see him working in the fields afterwards to pay his debt, i was hoping he would be forced to marry that girl he got pregnant as well.

I only found this quest 100 hours into the game, and by that point I had already done 20 or so quests that only lasted 5 minutes. If you're expecting a multi-arc story for every quest that you stumble into you'll be disappointed.

oh, i didnt expect it at all...
my intial post was about the wasted potential, which came with this quest.
this could've become a questchain, which shows even more, how bad ppl dont waste a chance to rob people.

for example, the amulet of the wanna-be-witcher coulde've been from a trader. this merchant is part of a bigger gang, which gang up on other witcher to kill them and steal their amulet.
amulet is sold for a fortune or misused to abuse ppl in need (aka disguise oneself as witcher, say you will kill the monster, which plagues the village, but first you want this, that oh and dont forget about that and so on) - i hope you could take up on my spin ^^

if mods ever become a thing for TW3 (mostlikly wont happen, but oh well)
this would be something i would like to see

slaughter on my dear fellow witcher!
