On vs Off! Nvidia HairWorks Side By Side Comparison
Would you rather play at 60fps with HairWorks off, or 40fps with HairWorks on? This video shows a side by side comparison:

Wow, Geralt looks really ugly with the way that camera is fixed on him.

My answer: Nvidia hairworks is great for aesthetic reasons but functionally it's just too demanding for those that can't have the best GPUs.

It's not even that noticeable with Geralt, more so on the fluffy wolves.

I play with it on it's a big difference on the horse and the animals and the hair of other people I hardly ever drop below 50 fps. You can change the HairworksAA in the rendering.ini file from 8 to 4 to cut your fps hit in half.

On here, the difference on animals and other people is too large to ignore :)

In-game, you just don't notice it as much.

Hairworks just isn't worth the cost - there are other things you can do with the power that will have a much greater impact on the visuals.

You can't even zoom in on the character like that. What a joke.

I tried that, but there was only about 2fps difference. I have an AMD card, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. This footage, however, is at the default MSAA level.

You can, if you face a wall and then turn the camera a little.

Am I the only one who thinks that up close hairworks off actually looks better?

it is normal that point of view.

I'd rather have it off. It doesn't even look on Geralt so it's not worth it in my opinion.

Yea I just keep it off now it looks the same if your actually playing the game and not staring at peoples hair lol. It allows me to up the graphics on other things that matter more.

I feel like Geralt's hair flows more with the air without hairworks. His hair also looks darker with hairworks on.

Off. The performance hit is dumb. Geralt looks dumb with silky smooth hair as well. Yeah just turn it off. Also, that voice sort of creeps me out :p

theres no reason to have this setting enabled IMO, turning it off his hair still flows and moves and looks real. Turning it on it looks like you disabled AA entirely, its jagged/pixelated as ♥♥♥♥ and drops my frame rate by 8-10 per second.
