It makes no difference. It always consumes one bottle of strong alcohol. Like dwarven spirit.

I haven't found a way to do just one of something, even when crafting or dismantling something. The game seems to do the max that it can.

As far as potions go, like Kamenos said, it just grabs a bottle of strong alcohol from your inventory and "consumes" it to make the potions, as far as I can tell. Not sure what all constitutes "strong alcohol", but it's pretty common stuff. Dwarven spirits is the one I see the most getting used.

I thought alcohest was the one that was consumed. I didn't realize it could be any alcohol...hm...learn something everyday I guess.

I didn't know there were different "strengths".... Are they listed somewhere?

On my first hours of the game I threw spent potions away and re-made them xD
I started out on broken bones and read that meditating wont heal me so I didn't see a point to meditating for quite some time.. I also found most potions silly since the ingredients needed to re make them didn't seem worth the effort.

Eventually I actually stopped to give it some thought as none of it was making sense and a quick look around in the inventory and tutorial book made me want to kick my own ass. What an idiot :D

But yes, alcohest and dwarven spirit seem to be the first 2.. I never seen it use anything else since theres no way you could run out of them.

in my experience the auto selcect is ordered somthing like this

Mahakaman Spirit> Alcohest> Dwarven Spirit> Nilfguardian Lemon>

Unknown if used - Cherry Cordial, Mandrake Cordial, White Gull, Redanian Herbal, there are others too

waiting for a mod that severley limits the alchol found in the world... It is FAR to common. and makes potions not as limited as they should be. It also by association makes the ability to craft Alcohest useless.

The reason they did this is because very few people (especially in the console crowd) would use potions otherwise, even though they're pretty much the backbone of the game. It's why DA:I turned the awesome "tactics" into a hollow shell of what it once was.

Mahakaman Spirit?

Yeh I think thats right.. I bought some incase it was needed for any potions and it vanished some time after so that must be right.

For me it's not really critical that they limit the alcohol but, yes, it's kinda weird when a mere monster slayer has more alcohol than a tavern. My Geralt should switch careers and just become an alcohol distributor, LOL. Last time I looked I saw 90+ dwarven spirit on my inventory and more than 50 of the other stuff.

I think it only uses the alcohol you can make, ie, Alcohest, Dwarven Spirits, White Gull, etc. I only have those three available to make at this point and I'm over 65 hours into this game. So I dunno. Most of the liquors and spirits you find say they're alchemy ingredients in the tooltips, so it could be any of them. But I agree, the amount of alcohol you find in this game is insane. I don't even think they limited the amount you find on the higher difficulties.
