The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Statistiche:
Let me play as a pure mage in Witcher 4!
Love Witcher 3 but hate playing as a melee character. As far as melee goes this game does a good job, it feels like real action sword fighting. I prefer tactical melee combat though like an MMORPG where you have hotkeys and abilities that work in synergy with each other if you use them in the right way (Vanguard was the best game for this), but this is good for what it is, probably the best action melee combat I've played.

But I wish they would take this series one step further and become a true RPG. This game seems like a perfect RPG world, quests, story, but with only one 'class'. I would love to play through it again or an expansion or a sequel, as a pure mage. Preferably with lots of spells and tactics with what you use and how you use it.

To me this game makes Skyrim look pathetic, everything about it is better, apart from this one thing. The magic combat in Skyrim was crap but they provide such good mod tools that you could make it quite good if you used enough mods. If the Witcher series could let you play as a mage, I would probably never play an Elder Scrolls game again.

Why don't you just go play one of the 100s of other games where you can as mage? The name is The Witcher. Not The Mage.

Witchers aren't mages. Why the hell do people want to play this game and then turn it into something else?

Just don't get it.

You got it completely wrong. I am not saying to turn it into something else, I am saying that in the future there should be more than just Geralt. In Witcher 3 there are moments when you get to play as Ciri and she plays differently. She almost teleports when she dives instead of just diving like Geralt. There is also the Keira character who if you choose to fight, will fight you as a pure mage. What I'm saying is, in a future game, it should be like this game but with an extra class or with a broader skill tree to let you turn Geralt into a true mage. You could still play as a typical Witcher but it would be good to have the option to play other styles.

And I only speak for mage lovers, really the game should provide Rogue and Ranger gameplay too. They should let you stealth and make more use of that attacking from the back damage boost. And Rangers, they already gave a crossbow in this game, they should let you specialize in that and have a bow and play as a true ranger, shooting multiple arrows at once, spraying an area with arrows (aoe), snaring with an arrow, damage over time with poison arrows etc.

Why not just make skyrim look as good as W3? Problem solved.

The characters, world, story, dialogue, and questing, are all inferior in Skyrim to this game. So no, problem wouldn't be solved. Also if you want games to improve over time, a concept which apparently blows the mind of most of you.... then you need to have competition. And the Elder Scrolls series has had no competition which is why I think it is so weak even after 5 iterations. I always thought if the Two Worlds or Gothic series could have cought on more, then by now the Elder Scrolls games would be as good as Witcher 3.

But none of those games cought on that's why even Bethesda's latest and greatest game, still only has 5 voice actors and a terrible interface and terrible combat and quests that leave a lot to be desired. But The Witcher 3 is genuine competition now. Bethesda are now making Fallout 4 so there is a chance that Witcher 4 could be expected at a similar time to Elder Scrolls 6, and that would mean both games would have to try hard and deliver as much as possible.

How can you be your own class if you're still a Witcher?

Making a mage a possibility is not difficult at all. You could choose to play as Geralt or some other character like Keira. Or they could have a new character and make it so you can develop the character in any way you want.
Geralt can't play as a mage, as he is not a mage. In the world you have to certain genes in your DNA to be a mage an Geralt doesn't have it. Signs ANYONE can do if they learn how, but that is not the same as real magecraft in the Witcher Multiverse.

You do realise that the post you quoted is almost a month old? A bit late for a reply.

Witcher Multiverse
Can I ask a question since when the Witcher series have become multiversal?
I think the issue is more that there is a lack of games where you can play as mage... it was AD&D who made mages popular and it´s been a loooooong time since a good AD&D game was done :/

Witchers aren´t mages. Through in a world with potions I think it´s a lame excuse to not have people that cast spells and can be strong enough to fight, even if not as quick as witchers.

As much as I enjoyed Skyrim, I thought it was too unfocused by comparrison. Playing as Geralt, or Croft, or Shepard, or Isaac, or Corvo - these games have more heart and soul, more depth, than any player-created-character game could offer.

I mean, being Dragonborn was cool and all, but the backstory there was a pittance compared to the rich history and relationships we have as Geralt.
then it wouldnt be a witcher game now would it. he is a special sub species of a human.
I honestly hope that they do not make another "Witcher" game.

If CDPR wants to make another RPG, that would be cool. But, not another one that is shakled to the lore of the Witcher. I think they would have enough experience now to make their own world and lore, even if it was to be heavily inspired by the Witcher.

:lampoff: Or go to space. Witchers in Space. Yeah... :lampoff:

If your a mage why would it be called a witcher?

Exactly. For Witcher 4 to be a WITCHER game, it has to have a Witcher as a playable character. Maybe they can make it a two character playable game (similar to how we can play as Ciri in Witcher 3). But it's way too early to be expecting anything about Witcher 4. CDPR will support TW3 into 2016, release Cyberpunk 2077 in 2017. And then if they want to make TW4, they'll start on that. So we won't see a new Witcher game until at least 2020.

Because of the Elder Blood. She can travel to all universes.

Yeah, but they all fight with Sword, signs and bombs.
CDPR already invented a few schools, one features heavy armor, another short swords and poisons. They could just add a new school that favors signs or even pure magics.
Witchers can't use pure magics. ONLY socerers can.

Witcher isn't multiverse per say, but it follows the belief that travelling between worlds is entirely possible and a reality for those capable. Multiverse implies there's infinite varieties of the current world based on conditions and decisions by each individual - a verse for if the lion chooses to eat lunch or not... Take the family guys multiverse movie for example...

The worlds that she travels to are not in the same universe = multiverse.
