You do realise that the post you quoted is almost a month old? A bit late for a reply.
Witchers aren´t mages. Through in a world with potions I think it´s a lame excuse to not have people that cast spells and can be strong enough to fight, even if not as quick as witchers.
As much as I enjoyed Skyrim, I thought it was too unfocused by comparrison. Playing as Geralt, or Croft, or Shepard, or Isaac, or Corvo - these games have more heart and soul, more depth, than any player-created-character game could offer.
I mean, being Dragonborn was cool and all, but the backstory there was a pittance compared to the rich history and relationships we have as Geralt.
If CDPR wants to make another RPG, that would be cool. But, not another one that is shakled to the lore of the Witcher. I think they would have enough experience now to make their own world and lore, even if it was to be heavily inspired by the Witcher.
Exactly. For Witcher 4 to be a WITCHER game, it has to have a Witcher as a playable character. Maybe they can make it a two character playable game (similar to how we can play as Ciri in Witcher 3). But it's way too early to be expecting anything about Witcher 4. CDPR will support TW3 into 2016, release Cyberpunk 2077 in 2017. And then if they want to make TW4, they'll start on that. So we won't see a new Witcher game until at least 2020.
Witcher isn't multiverse per say, but it follows the belief that travelling between worlds is entirely possible and a reality for those capable. Multiverse implies there's infinite varieties of the current world based on conditions and decisions by each individual - a verse for if the lion chooses to eat lunch or not... Take the family guys multiverse movie for example...
