Killed him. If he had killed just those who attacked him I would have given him a pat on the back, but he had no excuse to slaughter the whole village. Gave him a fair chance to drink a swallow potion. bad idea... cheater
I let him live you know is like the lesser evil story from the last wish and also they tricked them geralt did the same in blaviken a wirthwind of rage and steel . Also if you go to his stash you will see that they have tricked him more times.
A nice touch... when I approached him wearing my cat school gear, he snarked "Wolf medallion, feline armor... a crossbreed!" :D

Eh, his stash doesnt show just that they tricked him. it shows that he's already gone on several rampages like the one just now.

The whole of the Cat School can be considered 'loose cannons' at best, extremely dangerous psychopaths at worst. If I were a witcher myself, I wouldnt want people like him butchering everyone who disagreed with them and ruining the reputaion of the other schools. The Cat School students turning Assassins was one of the major reasons that the common people are afraid of Witchers these days.
I let him go. Villagers tried to cheat and kill him so they deserved what they got (most of them at least).
I killed him. If he had simply killed the two who tryed to off him then I would have been cool with him but he killed all of them. Then there is the fact that he said he only spared the kid because she looked like his sister meaning that had that not happened he would have killed the kid with no regrets.

I also got the feeling that this was not the first time he had done something like this. He gave off a 'I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy' vibe imo.

I can never bring myself to kill another witcher. Not Letho. Not Jad Karadin. Not Gaetan. I still mourn the inevitable events that resulted in the deaths of Serrit and Auckes. In Karadin's own words: "So few of us left."

Far be if from Geralt, the Butcher of Blaviken, to play arbiter. Even in my W3 playthrough, I am responsible for the deaths of countless fathers, brothers, sons, and husbands.. Peasants, Redanian soldiers, deserters, Sco'iatel. Too many to name. Did their perceived guilt warrant death in each situation? I walk the lonely Path with the weight of their deaths on my shoulders, pondering that very thought. My sword stayed sheathed in the presence of Gaetan.

Gaetan originates from the School of the Cat. Their faulty mutagens used on the hapless boys brought there has resulted in highly volatile and psychotic witchers. Geralt couldn't blame Gaetan for that. Gaetan reminded me so much of Lambert. That sense of general distrust, and an air of disdain for everyone that hides a true self-loathing. So many witchers have that resigned sense of doom, like their will has been taken from them. They lash out just to touch their own humanity again, for the briefest of moments. His memory of his sister sealed the deal for me. That spark of humanity still remained.

Gaetan's School had fallen to soldiers by decree. His brothers Axel and Cedric were dead. The rest scattered to the wind. What remained for him was to hide in the shadows, eke out a living as best he could doing the only thing he was created for, and assume that each time he went for a contract, someone in the village may seize the opportunity to claim the bounty on his head. Perhaps he resented his lot as a witcher. No doubt, though, that he resented the people that required his creation turning on what was left of his "family". That brotherhood that transcended the grasses, the trials, the tortures, and the grueling training was all that he had left.

Gaetan had slain a village's worth of people. Most were probably innocent to one degree or another. Most likely it was not his first time. Most likely he tightens the noose around his own neck as the soldiers' dogs close in with each crime. Gaetan won't die in bed.

But Geralt will not be the one kill him.

ps. I was really hoping the witcher would have been Brehen. Nice to see other Cats though.
I had the worst time deciding what to do here. I reloaded my save and decided to let him live. You get another quest for doing that and more reward later. Plus it adds to the drama of Geralt not really being any better and thus realizing he's no judge or jury. The Cat school Witchers may be crazy, but it's not their fault since their mutagen process was bad to begin with. Not all of them were insane, just a handful.
Yes but he WAS clearly insane. He slaughtered every living soul in that village - I repeat - every man, woman and child. Apart from the girl he could not kill due to his own egoism and self pity.

He literally went house to house killing everybody. Deciding was easy. I don't let murderes go on murdering. Witchers like him ruin the whole brand too :D
I killed him but let him drink the swallow potion first. Then he started doing some quen ♥♥♥♥ but I took his sorry mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass out real quick! I showed him not to ♥♥♥♥ with a real witcher and taught him a fine lesson! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disgrace to the witcher family. Vesemir would have turned in his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grave! Sorry for the cursing!

i let him go.
- he are witcher
- he was rise his sword not first (wounds on his back showing that)
- geralt do the same in white orchard. he answered to aggression by sword
- geralt not a judge
the school of the cat doesn't have a good reputation. it's composed mainly by psychopaths, madmen and sadistic people

I let him go - There aren't a lot of witchers left and I wanted to see where it took me. I wondered if he might not turn up again later in the game/DLC.
He slaughtered children there is no coming back from that. I let him drink swallow before the fight and all my suspicions were proved right, he was a piece of stront.

The lore states cat school witchers are unstable and/or psychotic. A certain wikia(i know any1 can edit them but it raises a good point) says Jad karadin(diff quest) is involved in the slave trade. Now basic psychology states liars tend to avoid eye contact AND the wik says cat school has FEMALE WITCHERS so I think he's lying his "ploughin arse off." On reg game i let him live but on NG+ i offed 'im. Remember the witcher world is dark, keep that in mind.
