Eh, his stash doesnt show just that they tricked him. it shows that he's already gone on several rampages like the one just now.
The whole of the Cat School can be considered 'loose cannons' at best, extremely dangerous psychopaths at worst. If I were a witcher myself, I wouldnt want people like him butchering everyone who disagreed with them and ruining the reputaion of the other schools. The Cat School students turning Assassins was one of the major reasons that the common people are afraid of Witchers these days.
I also got the feeling that this was not the first time he had done something like this. He gave off a 'I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy' vibe imo.
Far be if from Geralt, the Butcher of Blaviken, to play arbiter. Even in my W3 playthrough, I am responsible for the deaths of countless fathers, brothers, sons, and husbands.. Peasants, Redanian soldiers, deserters, Sco'iatel. Too many to name. Did their perceived guilt warrant death in each situation? I walk the lonely Path with the weight of their deaths on my shoulders, pondering that very thought. My sword stayed sheathed in the presence of Gaetan.
Gaetan originates from the School of the Cat. Their faulty mutagens used on the hapless boys brought there has resulted in highly volatile and psychotic witchers. Geralt couldn't blame Gaetan for that. Gaetan reminded me so much of Lambert. That sense of general distrust, and an air of disdain for everyone that hides a true self-loathing. So many witchers have that resigned sense of doom, like their will has been taken from them. They lash out just to touch their own humanity again, for the briefest of moments. His memory of his sister sealed the deal for me. That spark of humanity still remained.
Gaetan's School had fallen to soldiers by decree. His brothers Axel and Cedric were dead. The rest scattered to the wind. What remained for him was to hide in the shadows, eke out a living as best he could doing the only thing he was created for, and assume that each time he went for a contract, someone in the village may seize the opportunity to claim the bounty on his head. Perhaps he resented his lot as a witcher. No doubt, though, that he resented the people that required his creation turning on what was left of his "family". That brotherhood that transcended the grasses, the trials, the tortures, and the grueling training was all that he had left.
Gaetan had slain a village's worth of people. Most were probably innocent to one degree or another. Most likely it was not his first time. Most likely he tightens the noose around his own neck as the soldiers' dogs close in with each crime. Gaetan won't die in bed.
But Geralt will not be the one kill him.
ps. I was really hoping the witcher would have been Brehen. Nice to see other Cats though.
He literally went house to house killing everybody. Deciding was easy. I don't let murderes go on murdering. Witchers like him ruin the whole brand too :D
- he are witcher
- he was rise his sword not first (wounds on his back showing that)
- geralt do the same in white orchard. he answered to aggression by sword
- geralt not a judge
I let him go - There aren't a lot of witchers left and I wanted to see where it took me. I wondered if he might not turn up again later in the game/DLC.
