What language is O'Dimm speaking?

No spoilers, but O'Dimm utters some untranslated phrases near the end of Hearts of Stone. Does anyone recognize the language? It doesn't look like Latin or Greek... Old Polish maybe? Or just gibberish?

Also, this expansion cements Witcher 3 as simply the best video game ever made. CDPR knocks it out of the park AGAIN. Amazing achievement guys!

It actually sounds like Gaelic to me. I'll ask a Scottish friend of mine.

This year alone I've found Divinity: Original Sin EE, the director's cut of Wasteland 2 and Pillars (albeit only after the 2.0 patch) to be far, far better than TW3. Haven't played SR:HK yet, but if it's anywhere near as good as Dragonfall that'll be up there too. TW3 is better than Mad Max or MGSV, of course.

Chill, he liked the game. The expansion being the best thing ever for him is fundamentally the same it is for you to say other games are above The Witcher 3, which is fine. Bottom line, OP feels TW3 coupled with HoS makes the best game ever, an instance in which I disagree, but gee, haven't we all been in love before.

As for the OP, I believe O'Dimm's gibberish is translated in the subtitles of the Japanese version of the game, you may want to look that one up. As far as to what he is actually saying....well, I haven't seen anyone say for sure what it is. It isn't Elder Speech, but it doesn't look like just gibberish either.

I hadn't even taken the OP's age into account; honestly, just four years back I'd convinced myself TW2 was the best game ever made. While I still hold it near and dear I definitely can't say I still think that.

He is saying that, but that is not Elder Speech. What you are saying is the translation of the Japanese subtitles.

Elder Speech (spoken mostly by elves) and Common Speech (spoken mainly by peasants and humans) are the languages spoken in Sapkowski's world. Common being english, and Elder being a strange mix of Celtic, Latin, French and other languages which I cannot recall right now.

Interesting! Thanks for the explanation. Whenever I've seen it written the characters remind me of very early Germanic languages and the accent marks of Goidelic (Celtic) languages... A strange witches brew indeed.

Its supposed to be an ancient language in that universe. We don't know really some sources say Old Elvish (really old) or Demonic.
