Fantastic list, especially the Risen and Gothic series and Divinity 2. Only one I disagree with is the Two Worlds series, which I found to be not very good. I also didn't enjoy Mass Effect 2/3 all that much either.
I'll add Dragon's Dogma and the Souls series and a lesser known but surprisingly fun aRPG called Venetica. Bound by Flame is decent too, although its insanely low budget shines through all too often.
Risen looks pretty cool, I'll admit, but more often than not I'm in agreement with Metacritic scores, and this series doesn't rate very well.
Mass Effect is a space saga, so on that basis alone I don't consider it "like" the Witcher games.
Dragon Age is unplayable on the PC because we cannot steer with the mouse.
Gothic, Divinity, and Two Worlds might well qualify here. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the tips.
Witcher 2 was excellent and dragon age 2+3 are pretty good. I think Witcher 3 is the current pinacle, so its hard to recommend anything :D
Right? It's Skyrim with diffeent graphics. (And not even good, different graphics.)
Did you try Infinite? Its far more story rich than the first two games. Alot less subtle and less atmospheric but an engrossing story.
The rest of the Witcher franchise,
The Mass effect franchise,
The Castlevania reboot starting with Lords of Shadow.
Dragon Age Origins - avoid the other two.
Darksiders Franchise
Assassins creed 2 and its expansions ( avoid the rest) Black flag is a good pirate simulator.
Game of Thrones the RPG - Great story, rest of the game is clunky hence the low metacritic.
Sleeping Dogs - Suprisingly good storyline.
Alan Wake.
Those are all story rich games that are great imo.
Its more of an interactive movie than anything else but very fun.
Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Game Of Thrones were all pretty good.
Whats so great about its story?
