Many/most games use leveling as the objective of the game instead of actually just playing it. But leveling has been in games for so many decades, it seems alien to leave it out, especially to younger people, and would probably fail if implemented in a game release because of that.
I blame Gary Gygax...
I prefer a system where you are introduced to different game mechanism. For example, you struggle to defeate that guy because it uses a strong attack and you still need to learn the skill to dodge it.
Agree. As an ARPG, using skill is much more interesting than relying on levels.
Without equipment levels, u can now try different armor suits and weapons without limitation, and they'll always be useful throughout the game. Those diagrams which proves useless in original games now become valuable to collect, surely players will have more meaningful things to do :)
Good hint for cheaters.
But honestly: Who wants to be a cheater.

It's not cheating to use mods in order to tailor your single player game play experience to your own tastes mate. For example when I play State of Decay I mod zombies to walk and double the amount I have to deal with. I wouldn't consider that cheating.
In the case of the no levels mod for this game I would argue that Star Wars Galaxies itself in the original Pre-CU system had no levels. We only had skills. You could wear any armor, sure, but if you did not have the skill then the benefits of that armor would not be as good. Fair trade off if you ask me.
So I could see why the OP would not want to deal with a level system in this game. I'm still playing the first one myself, but when I make it to this game I intend on doing at least one play unmodded and see how I go and once that one is completed I may try the mod out for myself. That is provided the game captured me enough to make me want to even play it again. lol
To the OP I say this. If you like it then I love it mate. Do you and play your game your way my friend. And also thank you for the heads up about the mod. Have a good one everybody and stay safe mates.
Thanks!
barred from high level areas then it let me completely focus on the story(made much better after reading the books and playing W2) and the world which is far better than i remember as i was unfairly comparing it to FO4, WD2 and ACO worlds at the time.
I initially wanted a mod to completely remove the combat but this is a good compromise while still keeping inmersion.
I salute you and suggest w3enhanced edition and lazarus project if you want to try something more challenging and lore friendly
I think an autoplay mode would suit you even better. You could limit yourself to making waving (singlehanded) movements with your controller - and you could concentrate on the acoustic background:
Zack zack boom rombomm smash hack all dead hooooooooray!

W3EE seems to be excellent for a first player since vanilla is so awful, however i was already sick of the poor animation quality and enemy numbers since the first hour, i mean i would have tried it if it didnt require starting a new game :c.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on FO4 hybrid approach, where the world levels with you while still farther south-east areas have more dangerous enemies and scripted deathclaws.
I mean im one of those idiots who will completely disregard anything just to explore open worlds(which more often that not have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gameplay/poorer performance) so yeah, i really like the autowalk key on bethesda games and story mode options.
