What is up with the writers of this game mentioning real life fairy tales?
Princess Cinderella? Hansel and Gretel? Why? It destroys the game's immersion by mentioning all these real life fairy tales.

The entire Witcher series, as stated by Lochless, is based on slavic, nordic and other European folklore. They borrowed heavily from all of this and other materials for their atmosphere and stories. And you'd begrudge them mentioning some fairy tales as well? What's "real life" got to do with any of it anyway? It's not as if Cinderella was or Hansel and Gretel were real people and how dare they reference them in a game? They are works of fiction, just like the Witcher stories.

Are you going to complain next about the Crones and their similarity to Baba Yaga?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_Yaga
Ok, I'll bite. At least they changed the Crones instead of straight up using Baba Yaga. If they really wanted to use fairy tales that are from real life, why not bring in other fairy tales like Alice's Adventure? Beauty and the Beast? Little Red Riding Hood? Why not go all the way in? Hell, why change the name into the Crones, instead of just using Baba Yaga whenCinderella and Hansel and Gretel are referenced verbatim? Why didn't they change the fairy tale characters into something else so we don't obviously notice that the game is referencing something straight out of our past bed time fairy tales?

The Witcher doesn't take place in real life Europe, so it shouldn't mention any of these fairy tales that are from real life western civilization. This is like Lord of the Rings suddenly referencing Pinocchio tale or Game of Thrones referencing Alice in Wonderland. That would be bizarre and unnecessarily stupid.

One of the witcher stories in the books is based on beauty and the beast, the story where geralt gets his nickname of butcher of blaviken is based on snowhite and 7 dwarfs, theres another about little mermaid... and oh, in the game theres a reference to little red riding hood, a quest.
As you can see is a theme of the series. You can also complain about geralt being a witcher instead of a knight.

allusion is a valuable tool no matter how original or unoriginal a story might be. simply making one allusion is not an obligation to make others. witcher doesn't go all in because the notion of having to go all in is ridiculous. "why not go all in?" does it have to? I don't think that would validate or change anything already done.

The books mention fairy tales as well. I remember several times Geralt has described those tales a little "darkened", such as a "woman with a very white skin who murdered her stepmother and went to a house full with murderous dwarfs" or something like that. There's an entire arc dedicated to a romance between a human prince and a mermaid, and Ariel is mentioned too. ("ginger mermaid who had to sacrifice her voice to marry a stupid human")

I've always been torn on this. Sapkowski does the same thing, and sometimes it misses the mark and does undermine his world buiilding. Moslty, CDPR is pretty smart with this. One could argue their incessant use of eater eggs kills immersion though.

Dunno for me Keira's anticipation build up was best part of game. Now if only women irl did that...

You don't seem to get it, this isn't a fables game where the main character is the Big Bad Wolf and every side character is a character from a kids story. The monsters themselves are from various legends and folklore like the Wild Hunt for example. No one is forcing you to like it, if you don't then ♥♥♥♥ off. Who the ♥♥♥♥ do you think you are telling the fans and CD Project Red what The Witcher should be? We know what it should be, some of us have been playing it since the first game or even as far back as reading the books. Also the world of the Witcher is more connected to our world then you might think.

The books have plenty of references about fairy tales. A large part of the short stories are based on the subversion of these fairytales with a dark twist near the end.

Or the story with the Vampire. Or the The Lesser Evil short story.

So as we can see, this is nothing more than the OP misunderstanding the world of the Witcher. These fairy tales he mentioned are not Easter eggs, rather they are a part of that worlds history. Hopefully he can now move on and not feel it is immersion breaking.

witcher 3 is fantasy game, fairy tales are fantasy stories, + Grimm brothers, Hansel and Gretel is way diffrent than thease days story of it, Grimm brothers were brutal / nasty etc. these days story is for little kids, + Grimm brothers stories are from 1815 and baba yaga early 17th so they both fit in game. And even if they would not fit in game, So what, In game you kill monsters etc, Hansel and Gretel has witch in it, baba yaga is witch... so why would they not be in game? and oh CD Projekt is amateur company?? well i think you did not know they own G/O/G so i think they are doing pretty well, for ''amateur'' company.

and i forgot to mention you shot your self in foot in beginning of this, by saying they added real life stories in this game... Witcher is real life book and game is based on it so GGWP.
