FREE performance boost! Here's how:

Go into your library and right-click on the game's name, the click "properties". Then just untick the box that says "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".

After doing this, my performance improved considerably in Novigrad. Before I was getting drops to the low 30s and now it doesn't drop below 50 (with RT enabled)! Try it out!

BTW you can also add "--launcher-skip" under Launch Options on the same window to automatically skip the launcher

If you had a problem with the Steam overlay on GOG, that'd be very strange.

Gog also has a its own overlay. You can try to disable it.

since im achievement hunter myself, does disable steam overlay and skip launcher will somehow prevent us form unlocking achievements ? i kinda curious about this.

ofc achivmets will work, u will not just see them in game when unclocking them but it will show up in ur activity on steam and ofc in ur stats, with times and dates...

Valve's, yeah? Because it's well known that the Steam overlay (hell, overlays in general) can cause performance issues.

I have had Steam Overlay off for years. And Cloud saves and only update games in my Library when I launch them. Makes sense the less background crap you have running, the less you will have with performance issues in games.

Instead just do this, regardless of where you bought the game, CDPR insisted that W3 can be played without any middle-man launcher, any overlay, etc.

Considering performance degrades by itself the longer you play, OP probably just got a speed bost from simply restarting the game.
I'm very sceptical that this "fix" is probably just snake oil.

LOL how typical, a useless self-promotional annoying "feature" proves to be actively detrimental to the product's actual performance and only causes backlash for the company. The persons responsible for pushing these "overlays" and "launchers", which nobody ever asked for and everybody just wants to disappear, should burn in corporate hell.

I don't use them either, but many do use the overlay to see when friends join games or PM them etc. Do or don't, it is a feature used by many and you can turn it off.
