Freya be praised!

The quest "Freya be praised!" (Skellige) can't be finished. Killed the beast that guarded the dead body, looted the key and the note, found the treasure in the pond but quest is still marked as "unfinished".
Anyone got an idea how to solve this? Did not save befor, but afterwards. Finished the game, so going back and replay the whole game isn't a solution for me.

I'm on your side with this. I am lucky that this is just affecting a Hidden Treasure. If this was the only quest, sidequest or laying-around-bonus-thing i could not complete, i would be totaly fine, but it isn't. I was once trapped inside a damn castle with no way out because a door wouldn't open at any cost (check multiple guides to prove that it was the only way out). Had to teleport out of the building to continue playing.
As the story is brilliant and the game and grafics are also fine, i would recommend the witcher to everybody. But the bugs, they are heavy for a full price Blockbuster.

Beside, the first DLC is much to short. Adds around nothing in area, new story is rather short and the added weapons are not worth the 10 bucks payed for.

tl;dr: I'm on your side with the bugs. Quest isn't vital, so i will just live with it beeing unfinished.

Loaded previous savegame, tried looting the chest again. Quest completed.

Bug seems to be fixed. Was able to finish the quest (open the chest) without loading an old savegame.

Still broke here. Not sure what's up with it; I came back as level 52 after finishing Blood and Wine to see if I could clear it off, and while there appears to be a chest, I can't open it.

I did finish the borken quest while playing b&w (not finished yet). So maybe it was a coincident or pure luck for me. Would recomment to come back later on and retry it again, worked for me.

Sorry but it seems your current save got glitched somehow and nothing is going to fix that. I get your frustration about having it remain active when you know that you've completed it but the game works by having internal flags that are meant to trigger events such as cutscenes or the completion of tasks and sometimes they fail, miserably.

In some cases, such as yours, they really don't affect anything at all other than the satisfaction of knowing that you've cleared your entire journal of all tasks. In other cases, however, they can fail to trigger events necessary for even continuing the very game itself and become game-breaking glitches.

Be thankful this was just a Hidden Treasure. From the very beginning, many of them were glitched or bugged and they have gotten around to fixing most of them but some remain a nuisance to this day, and with the one year anniversary quickly approaching, that's quite a joke for a "Game of the Year" product.

Srry, but have you open the chest in the lake nearby yet? This quest actually isnt bugged. But when you first took this quest, you prolly skipped it cus youre onto another quest. (Check youtube for the chest location)

And the mark on the map show it as if you alrdy open the chest when actually you only took the key and letter.

You have to swim to the lake and open the chest to make this quest completed!

My only hope is that you havent throw the key yet.

This quest actually did bug. In my case, i tried several times to open besaid chest (i swam to it, but could not target it). So, it is possible, that the quest i snot finishable at all. I just got lucky and one day the chest was targetable.

Don't wanna necro the thread, but I had an issue where I opened the chest and the quest wasn't resolved. I loaded a save just before that and tried again...it worked fine. Just a little glitch.

Even after patch 1.31 I still had 2 minor quest unfinished even if technically they were done so yeah just chalk it up to life isnt perfect and move on.

Make sure you're really close to the chest when you open it. If you've already openned it and the quest didn't success, reload at a previous save.

One of the updates following my post did fix the problem. I was able to open the chest and thereby finish the quest. Don't know what exactly fixed it, someday it just worked.

Bug still exists on v1.32 , had to reload a checkpoint couple of times. Cleared nearby monsters as well before opening the chest

I finally fixed this annoying bug !
If this happens to you, just open the console (google how to do it) and write the following :
addfact(sk30_chest_opened)
I know I'm late on this one, but better late than never :)
