My problem was the archery, after shooting a couple targets Geralt gets locked in the aim animation so I always loose.Tried a few times with the same crappy result.
edit: eh nvm, loading earlier save and going though the race helped in my case.
Before the fight I had to select xbow with standard bolts,I originally had bombs selected.
Man this DLC can be buggy
The game is a bit mean, they put most if not all dummy on your left while geralt is right handed. Going a bit out of your way to hit them from the right is better, can still miss some but you don't need them all anyway. Also remember that you can old the attack button for some slowmo and release right before going past the dummy.
As for the crossbow, for some reason exploding bolts (Everything except the basic?) won't work and you can't access the menu in the race, but you now can use the quick access menu to scroll through all available bolts.
Also, thanks for your advice about the sword targets, Apoc. Big help! :)
You can hit the dummies easily. When mounted and near a target, and you choose to attack them, the time will slowed, automatically (make sure you hold the LMB).
It's pretty lame that the game never informs us about this ability or move while half of the community struggle on mounted combat.
1- forget the holding down attack for the slomo effect, it only makes it more complicated. after trying countless times and missing, I just reverted back to the normal hitting routine and it works better. You just cannot grasp how far or how fast geralt swings his sword in the slowmotion mode. Better to just hit attack and i guess the game helps you adjust the aim or something.
2- Never miss the crossbow marks. because you will miss a couple of dummies.
3- Be prepared to get stuck behind fences or better, invisible hitboxes so keep to the center of the road.
Hope this helps.
The game does inform you of the slowmotion thing though - at least it informed me, and I've gone through it on both my playthroughs without any issues thus far.
you can save game lower difficulty get achie reload and all's fine :)
