Both branches lead into very different conclussions.
I see. Can you tell me which path to choose to make sure Regis isn't hounded out of Toussaint? From what I've seen so far, Syanna is a murderous, terrible person, and the Duchess herself got on my nerves after sassing me for not going after Detlaff. So I honestly don't care if I get the 'bad' ending where they both die. .
Just a spoilerless tip, in order for Regis to stay in Toussaint you must follow Syanna's path, don't get the ribbon (You'll know what I'm talking about when you reach that part), and spare Dettlaff.
That leads to what some consider the worst ending, but it's the only way for Regis to not be hounded out.
Can you get the "best" ending, i.e. Anna Henrietta and Syanna both live, even though Regis gets banished and Detlaff dies by choosing to free Syanna instead of going with Orianna?
Plus, do they give you more information on Syanna's motivations? I'm really confused at this point
You can only get that ending by freeing Syanna. That's also the only way to know her motivations (she loosely explains them at the very end of the Unseen Elder path, but not as detailed as in her path).
Both paths lead to a fight with Detlaff. You only get the choice to spare him however in Syanna's path, and that's the only way Regis won't be kicked out of Toussaint.
I had to redo the ending to get this because I'd always wondered why I couldn't enter the prison fortress during the games quests
Up until Detlaff goes nuts I was on his side. I ended up with saving both women just because of
1. Staying true to my contract with the Dutchess.
2. Trying to do the "good thing" for everyone but old Detlaff was too pissed off (understandable).
