Vimme Vivaldi Bank - Currency Exchange - Bug?
Today when I talk to Vimme Vivaldi (bank in Novigrad) his dialog choices only include:
1. Need a loan.
2. How's business?
3. Farewell.

Before, he had always given me more choices, including a choice to exchange currencies (I believe that had been choice #2). Is that choice supposed to disappear at a certain point in the game, or is this a bug? I recently bought this game (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition), and this is my 1st time playing it. I'm not sure when this "bug" started happening (I don't visit Vivaldi too often). I've just reached Level 27 after winning the big Gwent tournament, to let you know how far I'm into the game. I hope I will be able to exchange currency "somewhere" in the world, or else I'm in trouble.

do you actually have currency to exchange? only asking because well you never know what mistakes people make.

As the poster before me said, those dialogue options only show up when you actually have foreign currency in your inventory.

Like the other two posters said, you need to have foreign currency. This means either florens (Nilfgaard's money), or orens (Temeria's money). The only in-game money you can use are crowns, which is Novigrad's money.

I just came back to give my guess what went wrong, and it matches what you all have said. After some other activity I was going by the bank and the dialog included the choice to convert currency. It only converted 9 units so I figured I had zero to convert before, thus no dialog choice.

For me, it would have been better for them to grey out the currency dialog choice and mention "(no balance to convert)" or something like that.

Thanks for your fast responses.

the better method of determining if you have any currency to convert isnt the dialogue option no matter how they chose to do it. greyed out. dialogue option not there. either way.

the best method for determining if you have currency to convert. Is your inventory.

your inventory is where what you have is stored. Use it.

I can't even remember which currency I'm converting from/to. I guess I'm paying more attention to the other aspects of the game, lol. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll do that. :lunar2019piginablanket:

your converting florens and orens every now and again you will find them while looting. they will go into your inventory in an inventory slot.

their icons look like coins.
if you have some in your inventory. then you have some to convert.

if you dont have any in your inventory you dont have any.
