Movement bugs... anyone else, and any fixes?
Hey, all. I just purchased TW3 a week or so ago, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far. However, I've noticed a couple of movement bugs and I am wondering if anyone has noticed these and/or found ways to fix them or mod them out. I'm new to the whole Witcher scene, but I haven't found any fixes anywhere on the web.

Here are the issues I've noticed:

1) Right before Geralt jumps, the screen freezes briefly---almost like the game skips a couple frames, or experiences a micro-stutter. It happens everytime I press the jump button, regardless of whether I play with a gamepad or K+M.

2) Horse movement seems buggy, too. Whenever beginning movement from stand-still to canter, or stand-still to sprinting, Roach experiences an unnatural, albeit brief slowdown upon initiating movement. He moves for a couple of steps, then stops, then moves normall until I stop again.

3) This is kind of a separate issue, but the headbobbing in this game bothers me quite a bit. It only occurs when Geralt is running (not sprinting), and it's a weird headbob---almost as if the screen pauses briefly between each of his steps. Can't find an option to disable. Any mod to fix this?

Loving the game so far, and these issues are far from game-breaking, but I wanted to see if anyone has any fixes for the above. All of them happen regardless of the resolution or video settings I select. Thanks again.

Specs:

i7 6700K
GTX 970
16GB 2666 MHz Ram

I am finding something similar occurs with my 1080. The page breaks right in the middle for a quick second and then evens back out.

I've analyzed my issues with both Alternative and Standard movements selected, and they haven't had any effect.

Issue 1 and 2, in my original post, could very well be oversights or design flaws that CDPR simply couldn't solve.
For the third one I believe that's from the camera just trying to keep up with the character. The movement speeds for the two just don't quite match. I use a mod that speeds up Geralt's movement and the faster he moves the more I notice the camera stuttering.

It is clear you have never mounted a horse in your life. Roach moves like a real horse, so stop complaning and find a riding school.
And all riders, Geralt included, sits correct in the saddle, and moves with the horse as one does in real life. Although the "piano hands" reins holding is not acceptable, so despite all the good things about the riding, the game is not perfect in this regard.

And Roach is a she.

I had an issue similar to this when I first installed W3. I had no idea what caused it, and it's since disappeared, but try playing without the controller.. unplug it fully and try this:

edit user.settings file in Documents/The Witcher 3 using notepad
PadVibrationEnabled=true change to false
SteamController=0 change to 0 if not already
ForceDisablePad=false change to true

What you described is literally what I was experiencing, and changing those values fixed it. It has since disappeared for no apparent reason, and I could change those back to default. So try that first without the controller plugged in.

That sounds exactly like screen tearing. Turn VSync on. It will limit your frames to your monitor's refresh rate, so decide if you like it like that or not. Or you could try the new Fast Sync in your NVidia control panel (good if you have a big surplus of framerate.)

(regular vsync in NCP didn't seem to engage real vsync in game so I used the in-game one, but fast sync should work, but turn off the ingame one.)

Thanks for the responses, all. Although I did not solve issues 1 and 2, I did find a fix for the head-bob problem.

The dude at this link had the same issue https://forums.cdprojektred.com/forum/en/the-witcher-series/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/tech-support/pc-aa/122672-camera-shake-during-running.

So, I did what he did and installed the Absolute Camera mod (from nexus) and selected the "no headbob" option and now Geralt runs and the screen doesn't shake one bit.

This was probably my biggest gripe of the three, so one down three to go.
