Character customization

I always wanted to buy this game, but the no character customization always turned me off. I just don't like how the character looks, and its a deal breaker for me . Are there any mods that I can install and customize the character? At least change the hair colour to a darker shade.

I would suggest you not to get this game if the character's look is turning you off. This is a game about Geralt and you will be playing as him for over a hundred hours. So if don't like him, there is little chance that you will enjoy playing the game.

I've not looked at Nexus mods for altering Geralt.

There are some mods for armour that I know about.

Geralt is Geralt, though. He's the character from the original books.

The game has much to offer, if you can accept that there's not much you can do with Geralt, other than alter his beard and hairstyle.

I do get where you're coming from, though. What's wrong with Geralt having dark hair?

Tom Cruise once played Jack Reacher in a film. Jack is 6'-5" (I think) and Tom Cruise's height is variously quoted between 5'-7" and 5'-9". Jack Reacher is a burly man...Tom Cruise is not.

Nevertheless, we're stuck with the Geralt we're given!

My advice...get the game if you're that drawn to it.

As long as I can change his hair colour to a dark shade I am happy. I just can't stand the white hair, and this mods allows me to do that. I will be away next week, but when I come back I will buy the game due to the mod. I have tried the game and it was amazing. The story was solid, the gameplay was fun and the scenery and atmosphere was breathtaking. I played till you get to play with Ciri for the first time...but the white hair :D

I will be honest, with the white hair I thought he looked like a slick pedo. I just can't help it. But I saw images of him with darker hair (mod) and it was exactly what I was looking for. His emotions were perfectly done in every situation. The way everyone acted around him was also very good (in relation to face emotion on npcs). I have played a lot of rpg games and if there is something that bothers me I just can't get immersed. And if I can't get immersed, it all becomes a chore. A lot of players might find this silly, but for me I need to get immersed. I need to care for the character. And the white hair was just staring at me...constantly :D

Geralt should be black, unfortunately developers are racist white males. Not to mention lack of strong and independent women and those who are strong and independent are being persecuted (Ciri, Sorceresses...). Glorification of rape and sexual violence.

This game is disgusting, totally misrepresenting 13th century.

BB, you may be shaking your head, but the OP was simply asking a question. one which we should try to respond to.

What's wrong with giving the player the option to make Geralt more 'ethnic' looking? By that, I take it that you mean any colour of skin other than white...you're starting to sound racist, heaven forbid.

JWT, to say Geralt should be black is no better.

Swapping genders wouldn't be an option, I grant you. Given that Geralt was male in Witcher 1 and 2, but for the player to be able to choose ethnicity wouldn't have broken any story line.

Sadly, Jimmy, while I agree with your original post, it can't happen.

Geralt is male, white haired and white skinned and we can't alter that.

Many years ago, in a galaxy far, far away (or so it seems) Bethesda made a game where the player could choose the sex, race, skin colour and nuch more of the character before they started...this game was of course Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.

If it could be done then, why not now?

to me this subject of race deserves a thread in its own right on all Steam forums. I'm 'white' but I can see that the world is nowhere near being equal to all people.

For me, I'd love to play a black Lara Croft in the next Tomb Raider, or better still, a Lara Croft of mixed race...

...sort of like the people I see on the streets!

this is an interesting, yet weird thread imo.

to Jimmy i'd say maybe take a second thought before changing Geralt. yes it's an amazing open world rpg, it has become my new alltime number 1, however it is a character/story based open world rpg.

you've said how much you've enjoyed the game and you have gotten as far as playing Ciri the first time. part of that enjoyment i feel, even on a sub conscious level would come from playing a character, Geralt. our white wolf.

give him a go imo. the big G might just grow on you.

at the end of the day it's a 'puter game and only you know what you like and what is fun for you and what isn't so obviously you are going to play it however you like. which also obviously is all your choice, yet sometimes in life we don't like something when we start it and later love it, and vice versa. nothing is truly static. entropy always wins in the end lol..

when i play witcher 3, i am Geralt. yay!

anyway. have fun and enjoy yourself mate.
