Make different manual saves. I'd say atleast 3 and then rotate between them, overwriting the oldest everytime you make a manual save.
Create your potions to heal, Health over time and the instant heal potion. Also create the clear toxicity potion incase yours is high and you need to use the instant heal potion than has toxicity. Also use food for health over time, it stacks with potions.
Could also spec into Quen. Thiink it's the third level, maybe fourth, that allows you to absorb the damage inflicted on you when using it in alternative mode (the bubble.)
btw since u got a problem with the golem be carefull of the creature hidden after the fight avoid that . "missing on a great loot there :P"
remember manual save is the best option.
If you have any elemental oil, put it on your silver sword.
Next, golems are not really vulnerable to anything. some monsters are vulnerable to things not stated in the bestiary, for instance, cyclopses hate igmi bit that doesn't show up reading the bestiary. Likewise many monsters are weak against axii but you're not told that either...
Golems, earth/fire elementals are not weak to anything I know of.
Your best bet against a golem, from my experience, is to roll and dodge. If you can, roll at them when they look like striking and hit them several times with fast attacks. You get a feeling when this isn't going to work any more. Roll away.
I suspect you're too early to have 'whirl' in your attack skills but this is immensely powerful against them because even on deathmarch, they don't have time to hit back at you whem whirling.
Try to keep quen on to mitigate their 'poisoned vomit', for want of a better phrase.
Never let it leap in the air. If it does, roll and dodge away...that attack can kill you easily.
Also, have you got any decoctions yet?
Troll decoction allows your health to regenerate, even in combat. Relievers decoction gives you added protection against all attacks, including elementals. Before the fight check all the descriptions of your decoctions and try different ones.
Really, I can't stress it enough, the best way to fight elementals is to perfect dodging and rolling...then you choose when to attack!
u can freeze some golems with the northern wind bomb "not included in the bastiary"
also thunderbolt boost your dmg for a good amount.
wait until he hits and quick dash back > one fast attack > dash back > two fast attacks > run.
I never tried Northern wind against them! I'll try it against some. To be honest I neglect bombs too much, which is probably why I missed them out of my advice for the OP.
Actually, I sort of like the way the bestiary is to be used as a 'rough guide' only. It leaves room for players to experiment and develop their own tactics.
Also another reason not to entirely trust the bestiary is that it sometimes works the other way, especially as you level up.
For instance, I've found that whilst axii is said to be useful against arachnomorphs, later on it does naff all good against them, especially the giant ones...better off hitting them with aard....or dodging their jumps.
Good tip about the bomb!
kSr_2210, Yes he's frightening at first but really not too hard: on a par with the golem I'd say. So long as you don't bang into those portals, pick off the hounds and if you're struggling, just keep your distance from him. Keira doesn't do a lot of damage but she distracts him. I wait until he's turned towards her and then roll in from behind and hit him hard. I love being sneaky.
I remember thinking he was impossible for a time but I think I let fear get the better of me!
As always I resort to dodging and rolling to get out of trouble. I describe my stunningly cowardly tactics to my daughter (12) as being the power of rolly-polly, something that uncle Vesemir would surely approve of...bet I could have been a tutor at Kaer Morhen. I've also more honestly described it to her as 'the power of cowardice'.
