Found a way to "repair" Geralt's boats !
Hi.

I just thought I'd add this tip for all of you long-suffering seafarers around the Skellige isles.

Isn't it tedious when those pesky sirens take huge chunks out of Geralt's lovely little boat? It makes it awkward fighting them from the boat too when Geralt keeps lunging at them and falls through the hole.

I found out that if you save immediately after fighting the sirens off then load that save without exiting the game, the boat is magically undamaged again.

I'm playing 1.31 GOTY. This has worked for me four times now.

Hope it works for you...happy sailing and give those sirens hell !

Even better solution, just shoot 'em with your crossbow while steering before they can damage the boat. Much easier imo.

Yeah well they worked in an exploit killer in the cow fields so don't be surprised if a giant aircraft carrier or something nukes your a s s after doing it a few times.

Nice exploit. Not that the sirens are a problem. They are so easy to kill with the crossbow and they only damage the boat if you stop and stay on it. If you are at a loot marker just jump in the water right away and they will leave the boat alone.

I didn't know that CDPR tried to stop exploits like this.
I'll watch out for the aircraft carriers or nuclear submarines though.

Thanks for the tip.
Exploring Skellige by boat is the only thing I didn't complete - it seemed tedious.
Apart from the odd draconid on the islands, is there anything interesting out there?

Aerondight (great sword),

Yes there is a bit more out there than the question marks suggest. You can get a bit of loot on some islands not marked, but in general nothing special. I tend to visit each island I can climb on to, ? or not.

One of these (East of the main island) gives you a quest (From distant lands, or something) back in Velen which is quite interesting.

North of Kaer Trolde harbour is an island that you get a quest for religious books. On that island is a cockatrice (I think) that is normally way OP unless your far enough advanced.

One I loved was right to the East of Skellige, it's unmarked but you find an altar with a dead bear on top, if you go right to the top of the island. There's not much loot there but I just wondered what the hell it was doing there. You do get some decent gauntlets from a chest next to the altar.

There may be more that I've not found.
