undiscovered locations worth it?
I'm currently lvl 23 in skelligae about to finish the remaing secondary quests before moving onto main quest. After discovering all locations in velen and white orchard, I realized i was pratically selling or dismanetlling all weapons and armour i came acorss.

Now skelligae has a lot of undiscovered locations mostly in water and I really dont have an interest in diving and fighting off sea creatures so, aside from witcher gear quests which point out exact locations and considering I am finincailly set in-game with crafted witcher gear, is it worth pursing 100% or just worth checking out if it's along the way during a quest?

Also, is it an acheievement to check out all undicovered locations?

Thanks in advance

And no, there's no achievement for the question marks.

Self-completionist I gather right?

Thanks

dont go crazy trying to get them all. It can burn you out. If any are important, a main or side quest or bounty will take you there anyway

You won't know which question marks means what, but if you feel like cheating a bit, getting the points of power are useful. But...then you are cheating..ruins the exploration.

I did every ? on all maps after I had completed the main questlines and the DLC questlines. I managed to earn about 60,000 crowns doing the Skellige ones which are mostly smuggler's caches.

If you want to craft all Grandmaster armour sets you're going to need coin and it's pretty tough to come by when you have completed everything. I still need to craft a Grandmaster Griffin Steel sword which will cost me about 6,000 crowns. That's a lot of Gwent matches in Beauclair :steambored:

If you have the Blood and wine DLC. You will come to realize that you need money to make armor and random things. Those ? in water from skellige is an easy way to take those items and sell to merchants in the BAW DLC. Every merchant in BAW have like 7 k gold in reserve and pay a lot for weapons.

Because the game scales on level as well as gear, those items in the water may scale to your level when opening. I have not checked in the longest time for this random scaling, but i beleive it is still in effect. This is based off the assumption that items in crates are not set and in fact randomized upon opening.

Interesting. Good to know. Maybe I can check on them later once I begin the DLCs

Pretty sure the stuff you get from a smuggler's cache does scale to your level. You are likely to find stuff like Sun armours, higher level swords and mid/high level runes. That's what I was getting from them and I was 50+ level by that time.

good decision, I discovered every location before the DLC and now I'm piss poor and can't craft ♥♥♥♥ :poopcrying:

Skellige seems to overdo the free loot spots. Definitely feels worthwhile to hit every ? in Velen and Toussaint, but even when I try to force myself, I just cannot bear to hit them all in Skellige. I do every contract and side quest that I can, however, and I'll usually grab any ?s on the way to and from.

As for achievements, there are a couple which may relate to this activity, but not defined exclusively by it:
- Find 100 fast travel markers.
- Clear every single monster nest from Velen, or clear every nest from Skellige.

On B&BB I finished with 60k gold and loads of unsold items gems runes (only sold weapon & armor) and I wasnt that frugal even crafted all sets of witcher gear... so if you loot everthing it's kinda hard to run out of money :o

i check out all ? because anything i get can be sold..........besides i love just running around exploring.....also if you become overencumbered you can ride roach to the nearest merchant to unload stuff.....roach is very useful to get you going places when your overencumbered........also some of the question marks you save people and then they become available as merchants to buy stuff from and sell stuff to.

All true problem's in Skellige waters and small islands almost 100% '?' places smuggler caches which's totally boring but ofc you can only find out if you visit each and every one :)
