Pillars of Eternity Making Of documentary is out!
If you have it already "installed" on steam, click the tick box and let steam delete the temporary files then click again to download the 1.5gb mp4. It's about 1 hour 30 minutes so make sure you have some spare time before you start.

What do you guys think? I'd read somewhere before release that Obsidian was in a bit of financial trouble before the game released but I had no idea how bad their problems were before I watched the documentary. They damn near almost went under, and were it not for the success of the Broken Age kickstarter they most likely would not be here today.

Thanks for the info. I briefly looked through it and definitely flows with a super nova brilliance shine forged of strength courage and love blasting as if from a planet sized cannon across all of existence.. inspiration unstoppable.

Will be seeing the whole documentary between now and the weekend for sure.

Ah, so that was what the huge 'patch' was I saw earlier.
A movie.
I like movies.

I don't see a way to launch it via the Steam client . I suppose it is a proper MP4 format
I can view via a stand alone player once I dig into the folders to find it.
I do see it listed as installed DLC.

I hope I can watch via Video Lan Client as I"m too lazy to launch the game.

Yes you can view it with a stand alone player. I watched it with VLC Media Player.

Watching through it now. It's pretty decent - certainly better than most "making-of" game documentaries.

Favorite moment by far is watching the impromptu live choir/orchestra recording music in the Obsidian lobby. Who knew there were so many talented musicians making games for a living.

Obsidian should have went away. Why people felt the need to help this broken game company I will never know. EVERY game I have played has been riddled with bugs.
They made a promise in an article I read that said they would not put out a game with bugs in it anymore. They were tired of that reputation. Guess that didn't last long.

The fools that spent extra money on this "mocumentary" will be bumming when it get's leaked by someone onto the net. Another week or less and you can watch it for free.

Any spoliers in the documentary?

I would prefer to finish the game before I watch. Still in Act 2. Let us know your reviews...and NO SPOLIERS

You dont have to worry about spoilers. Its more a documentary about the company and the things they did to make PILLARS OF ETERNITY possible.

There are no plot spoilers whatsoever. There's barely any discussion of the game's story at all.

Watched it. How I delete it so Steam doesn't download it again?
