Check out Jeremy's resume of games he has work on. You probaly do hear a lot of his work.

Same composer as in ? Justin Bell worked on Pillars...
And with a budget like Pillars had who's to say they haven't bought the rights to use some tracks that might be in other games as well.
I can't say I heard anything resembling any music I heard in any other game though.
I felt the same. One song I heard quite early on in the game immediately threw me back to BGII, but not in a good way. It felt like someone took that music and reproduced it badly. I also felt a heavy influence from the LOTR soundtrack.
I loved the scores of BGII, IWD and other such games, but this is a slight disappointment. Other than that, the game appears to be mind-boggingly great so far : )
Ambient sounds are often taken from sound libraries. One of the most famous one is a gate opening. You hear that in a lot of games, and even more films and tv shows.

And of course this combat song sounds pretty familiar because it kind of sounds like the beginning of Baldur's Gate 2 theme and this battle theme.

I've watched the Dev Diary and from what I remember they had their own composer but couldn't really afford to get a real orchestra to play it so they just made up their own from their employees, played in the lobby of their office building and added some stuff in post.
It's fine though, some of the most iconic soundtracks in history are straight rips of existing music so I'm not bothered by a few familiar melodies in this game. As long as it fits the mood and setting, which it does.
