Dyrford quest: Cat and Mouse bugged?

So, I did this quest a while ago by telling Nyfre to go East and Medreth to go North West exactly as described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yQHOgUdm84

Doing this completes the quest, however if I back track and go to Woodend Plains and then travel north I encounter Medreth and his gang by the grave. They immediately attack me and say they were halfway North when they talked to someone and realised I tricked them. As soon as the encounter begins I get "Cat and Mouse failed." When I finish up Medreth and his gang and read over why the quest was failed it says Nyfre was killed even though i'd already completed the quest. Now, because of it, I can't go North from Woodend Plains without failing this quest.

Funnily enough if I reload, don't go north but go to Defiance Bay and go to House Doemenel I get an option to tell the doorman I helped Medreth. The doorman make s a big fuss and allows me into the house to speak with the guy who owns the place. If I speak to the guy he doesn't say anything just "What do you want?" I get the option "What is this place?" where he basically tells me i've been living under a rock and that's it. There's nothing else to it. It comes across as if I should be given a quest here.

Is this a known bug or is it intended... somehow...?

Bug, that is for sure. Ever since the 2.0 beta, some of the quests behave strange. Report this at the Obsidian forums (link in a pinned thread towards the top).
