Defiance bay factions are somewhat misleading
So there are three factions, the Knights, Doemenel and the Dozens.

For some weird reason you are allowed to gain reputation with only the Knights. And eventually when you are allowed to get reputation with Doemenel or Dozens you are blocked since you have reputation with the Knights.

This seems like a really weird or downright stupid design choice.

The journal seems to disagree eventho there are no other options to proceed with Doemenel.

You may accept a first task from all three factions, but you need to decide on which faction to work with, because on completion of the task the others hear about your deed, too.

If you've worked for the Crucible Knights or the Dozens too early, bad luck.

You can easily get (or lose) reputation with each of the factions. But all three have one final quest. Chosing one side will lead to being unable to do the final quest for the other two factions. Be aware that they warn you before though like: "We have another quest for you but faction A and faction B won't like this."

But this limitation only counts for the final quest as far as I know. You can still do the other factions related quests like entering the graveyard for the Knights or getting the breast plate back for the one guy from the Dozens.

As for getting to the final quest of the Doemenels I can only assume since I've never chosen them. ~ But in Copperlane(?) there is a non-marked house (I think east of the Dozens headquarters) where some thieves reside. Upon entering they will attack you and drop a letter. Using this you can get in contact to the Lord of House Doemenel or give it someone else and piss them off even more. ~
