Is shrugging considered a toxic emote?

I never use taunts, atleast not the ones that are considered rude or toxic like the saltshaker or reading the book. However, I've had a lot of people calling me toxic for shrugging.

The only time I shrug is if I accidentally kill myself either by falling off the map like an idiot or having my own grenade bounce back off the wall and kill me. Same thing goes for the enemy. If they step on their own mine and die or mess up a combo and end up going offstage to their deaths I'll just casually shrug.

Are there any emotes besides the thumbs-up that aren't considered rude or toxic?

Man did I get flamed by a few different people for using the "Salute" taunt before beginning the ranked fight. Whether I won or not didn't matter. After they say what they say, I just think:
"At what point did an honoring gesture become the biggest triggering thing?"

Just ignore and move on.

The whole premise of taunting in video games is to be toxic and try to piss off someone because that's literally what taunting means. If the devs weren't going for that then they would've renamed taunts to "emotes".
