If you're on the ground and hit the "dodge" button while moving, you'll perform a dash,
A burst of speed in the direction you happen to be moving in. Continuing to move in that direction puts you in a "sprint" state.
Jumping shortly after a dash is known as a dash hop(I personally call them shorthops),which is a slightly lower than normal jump, but reaches its maximum elevation quicker.
You can do a front dash or a back dash, the latter being a small hop backwards useful for dodging attacks you're anticipating.
You can chain back and front dashes indefinitely.
The only requirement to dashing is being grounded.
If you don't input any direction or hold up while being grounded, you'll do a short spot dodge, which does have invincibility frames.
You are also granted "chasedodges" upon hitting an enemy, which is supposed to help you keep in range and following up with other attacks after the initial hit.
Hop into training mode and experiment a little bit with all those mechanics,it should help you out.
That sounds pretty complicated, but rather helpful.
Thanks!
dash is when you move in a direction
you do the dodge with invincibility frames (will refer to as i-frames from now on)
you can dodge in a direction in the air, or do it without moving (a spot dodge)
BMG removed the directional ground dodge, so there are now no i-frames when you press the dodge button and a direction on the ground
however, if you've just hit someone you CAN do a directional ground dodge up into the air or to the side (called a chase dodge) that has i-frames
Ok, so (even more )basically:
Ground+direction: no iframes.
Anything else: iframes.
Is this correct?
Ok, perfect.
Thanks a lot.
