Why do people hate SPAMMERS so much?
Ok, i'll go straight, i am a spammer, or the one that you guys usually call by that name. Basically because i usually use the HEAVY ATTACKS in the combats in stead of the 'chain combos' like the others.

Why i do that? Of course, cuz i am a newbie, and secondly, i never good at practicing combos or even have time to practice. I play this game cuz I like the funny play style, so all i want is just spending my free time to relax and have fun, thats all, and i dont need to fight for rank or anything. I understand and agree that 'spamming' by using heavy attacks can be really annoyed for most of u guys. But i just wonder that whether ppl like me are deserved to be treated as what u called 'spammers' or even worse, cheaters? Firstly, using heavy attacks is not against the game rules, because the developers allow it. And secondly, for me, its just a kind of 'strategy' that we use to against ppl who have better skill. Many times I was insulted and cursed by other players who told me that i am a spammers, noobs, cheaters and things like that really make me upset. But really, what are you expect me to do with my current skill, i am not having a good skill, or good at doing combos, so should i just stand there as a dummy and taking damages? Is it really called a fair play when people with better skill could go to the Free-for-all rooms using their skills to bully new players like me, and i am not allow to at least use my heavy attacks to against them?

I agree that skill spamming is not suppose to be a good playing style, but you cannot expect everyone to be good at doing combos, especially when you join the Free-for-all areas, not everyone have time to practice the combos, someone like me just want to enjoy the game like the others, and i dont think that i deserve to be cursed and roasted all the time. I am not support the act of spamming, i just want to share the true feelings of people like me who always being called spammers. If you think that you would be really upset and annoyed with heavy attacks spams, lets put yourself in my position when playing with someone who has higher skill and try to use their 'godlike' combos to bully players like us, how would you feel? All i want to say that, pls dont judge spammers too much, cuz no one can be perfect.

.... I know.
My point is its not fun to play against someone that only uses one move the whole fight. Spamming is not as lose as to be an umbrella turn to encompass a short combos. thats not spamming. Spamming is being a one hit wonder and using that cheesy move as a one-size-fits-all answer to everything rather than to have a varied battle with someone.

Personally I consider "loose" spamming to be relying on 1-3 moves or 2 or less combos. This isn't a hard restriction based on genre but you get the idea.
Mate, combo spam is a thing my man.

"Spamming, in the context of video games, refers to the repeated use of the same item or action"

A few years back there was actually a combo spam meta, this is why tons of the strings and combos in the game got nerfed as people would use macros to just spam them.

Let me be frank man, a lot of the depth in this game comes from the spacing and keeping up with your opponent. If that isn't interesting to you then brawlhalla may not be your game my man.

Brawlhalla isn't tekken. You're not going to find that gameplay here. It's a completely different genre and the depth will be in other areas of gameplay.

As an old seasoned tekken player, i strongly aggree with you. Brawlhalla has more in common with soul calibur, smash bros and Double dragon (eventhough that last one is a beat em up) than with the likes of Killer Instinct, marvel vs capcom or tekken. On the further ones, aggressive play and long combos are the rule while on the first ones small combos and recoveries are the way of the pro. One of the main reasons i stopped playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 is that everybody plays magneto including myself because his infinite combo can't be blocked once started (specially with helpers like psylocke or serverbot anti air assist types) and it's pretty easy to learn, that game literally ended being Samurai Kirby.
As i play by the edgemaster methods (my achievements reflect it) I totally support your post

psuedo combos are fine. Im speaking to the 1-off move spammers
I myself really on small combos as I have said before. I am incapable of doing those uber combos I have seen
Those uber combos rely on knowing your spacing and reads my dude.

It's all about knowing how to hit and smaller combos don't rely on that. I love them because they're more dynamic than the pre-made strings.

Combo spam literally refers to using the same combo over and over again. No where did I say that we are using the same combo repeatedly. If you need clarity, in the context of my original comment and onward, the assumption is that one person is using 1 or 2 moves only, where as I or any other normal person would be using a varied set of skills that encompasses more than just one or 2 moves, combos, or abilities. and this is directed to EVERY fighting game in existence, including Brawlhalla and the like (Smash or any other smash like side-platform game) I literally cannot get any clearer than that. I don't know what you're looking for in this, but look no further than that answer right above. This is direct to the original post as well.

To redirect you back to the purpose of my explanation and to summarize, people generally hate spamming because its seen as cheesy, less skillful, and annoying to fight (win or lose)

There is nothing less skillful about using combos, and it shows all the more that that person has a wider grasp on the mechanics to pull off all sorts of combos. In Brawlhalla, most of every action you can do are micro in terms of how many hits you can fit into one combo, but thats where spacing comes in. To leave one combo and line up and engage in a new combo depends on both player's decisions and skill at guessing the right move as well as executing it. I don't care though. As long as you are responding to each given situation fluidly without just doing the same thing, we're good.

Had me an Isaiah earlier borderline betting his social security number on his ssig. like I couldn't fathom why he just kept using that cannon ssig with like a 1.4% success rate on me. There were points where he used it and I wasnt even near (thought I'd run into or something? I dont know) it had to have been comedy. maybe I was the joke

Spammers (in my opinion, not like anyone cares) are annoying because the point of this game is to PLAY the game, and for people trying to do that go up against some wanna be hot shot that only spams because they wont put in the time or effort to become good. They just usually want to get high elo to say that they are so good at the game, or show off, etc.
gtf_ 2019 年 11 月 17 日 上午 4:55
Well I have lost many times to spammers.I know what their next move most of the times but I still get hit by them.No matter if I win or lose I don't like spamming because I find it annoying and I just want to play the game and have fun.I wouldn't consider myself toxic but I am a bit mad sometimes if the opponent is spamming a lot and I mean heavy only all the time. Please try as much as you can to avoid spamming because, propably your opponent does not like it,and after all it's the same thing over and over so you'll propably get bored of it.

If and when I meet a spammer in ranked I just quit, I rather lose a few elo than waste my time slowly beating you because you keep running away from me and then trying to spam.
Captain Cagle 2019 年 11 月 17 日 下午 6:03
Because getting in to the game with a spammer is annoying and a waste of time. I play to have fun and fight decent players not waste 2-4 minutes avoiding autistic sig spam and punishing a player who will never learn. Spammers are like 30-40% of the total playerbase and knowing there is that many players who refuse to even try to be good makes me not want to play.

To be fair though anybody playing free for all should expect that kind of behavior. Nobody who plays seriously plays free for all.

spam can be a very viable tactic. you just have to be smart with it. conditioning your opponent to behave the way you want them to leads to you landing more sigs, which pisses them off when they start losing to this "noob tactic" thus causing them to make more risky plays, which you can easily punish.
