Of course, to be fair...the idiot captain of their ship decided to go between me and my target and got a face full of broadside for his efforts, plus crapton of turret juice.
What shouldn't happen, their aggro or have an option to turn of friendly fire?
Well, like I said, it happen with me. I saw allies moving between me and my target, my turrets shooting something behind an ally. And with better equipment, will damage enough to even destroy them.
It don't happen often, cause I avoid doing missions that include allies, because of this issue, and how suicidal they can be. But I'm doing the main mission now, with my MK 6 Blackgate, and yeah, I'm getting this trouble with militia and traders get angry with me.
Citizenry - Friendly
System Militia - Friendly
Red Devils - Hostile
Double Jacks - Hostile
Korian Outsiders - Hostile
So what is the hilarious part? When I dropped from warp to approach the station, a ton of System Militia attacked me. That's twice that's happened so far to me. I understand some stations are in "War" status and everything will attack, but the ones I visited were not and I hadn't killed any Militia ... until now. My first incident I GTFO because I didn't want to kill militia, but now I am running a better ship and my AI turrets took out 4 militia ships before I could even turn around - costing me 40 faction with System Militia.
My only two complaints about this game are that Factions and friendly fire seem to be REALLY weird and the fact that my ship fills half my screen and I can't zoom out at all. Other than that, though, this game is truly bad-ass for the money (20 bucks - to me that's cheap for the content you get in this game).
But yeah - we definitely need options for preventing friendly fire.
If you leave your AI (turrets) on any craft or targeted when doing escort / protect missions and a friendly is between you and an enemy ship that you are targeting, you will MELT the friendly trying to hit the enemy.
No need for friendly fire toggle - actually it's a horrible idea as pretty much will remove any sense of awareness and tactics in fights since you can be anywhere and fire with impunity not hitting friendlies or being hit by them. Not going to happen ^_^
If that happened, then there were two possibilities.
1: The station was under Militia Embargo (they will declare you hostile for approaching, regardless of faction status)
2: You had illegal commodities in your cargo and either declined to give them over, or ignored the hail.
