True enough. And trust me, I love the ones we get (especially the Sorcerer (I swear it reminds me of the Outlaw Star) and the Vanguard - which seems to be heavily inspired by the USS Enterprise.. Love those ships), but it's the bandit ships that I really like. Like for instance, their Cruisers and the Destroyers that they get (One of them looks almost like an aircraft carrier with an open fighter bay in the side).
See I wanna get a Destroyer or a Cruiser because I'm not big on piloting a ginormous Dreadnought, but the ones offered... I really don't like. And there's only *one* Cruiser available for purchase, and it looks (frankly) rather dumb unless you're going for the Trade Mogul sort of playthrough. So it's almost like you get to the Heavy Frigate level... then you skip straight to the Dreadnought, or get a destroyer. And also yes, I can access all of the Mercenary and Trade Guild ships.
I dunno, they don't really need to make a sequel (I haven't beaten the game yet, so I can't say for certain), but an expansion would be nice. Heck, even if they just release the type of mod-tools that they had for Torchlight, and then give this game a Workshop, that'd be fantastic.
This game, to me, is a clone of Starpoint Gemini. But in this case, it's a much... muuuuuch better clone, and the mods that SG gets actually make the game a little better than 'mediocre'. Mind, then they came out with an expansion that made almost all of the mods destabilized and corrupted my save file, but still. Rebel Galaxy could benefit so very much from having easier modding tools for the coding-illiterate. Like myself.
Plus I think a nice addition would be customizing your ship. It's one thing to name the ship, but actually seeing it emblazoned somewhere on the hull would be pretty awesome. Plus being able to choose an insignia, where joining with other factions gives you more to choose from (and maybe you get a rep bonus for flying their colors during missions). And something as simple as choosing a different color would be nice. The Polaris is a cool ship, but it looks like someone made it out of street signs. Would be nice to give it a flat gunmetal grey to go with those red engines. (Yes, all the things that Starpoitn Gemini lets you do)
