The Hellion looks like a flying chicken nugget.
Being someone who has had a "look inside" the dat files, what are the possibilities of doing custom paint jobs? Or have you got that far?
Great! Thanks!
but I located some. \MEDIA\SHIPS\HUMAN_CORVETTE\ seems to be an area of reference for the starter ship (Rasputin, Hammerhead) it contains .mdl and dds files. I don't have a program for either of these currently. However if you could figure out which dds files to replace it should be easy to create or edit the files and keep file names as the mods overwrite the original files when repacked.
Ahh. Ok. The .mdl files are likly the 3-D models and the .dds files would be the texture files. It should be a matter of using a paint program to convert the .dds (I think .dds is a file comprssion format) to .bmp or .jpeg (whatever works) then "repainting", convert back to .dds etc. One would be able to tell more by having a look at the texture files in a paint program. May not be as easy as it sounds though.... I may have to try the unpacking process to have a look for myself. Uggg..me no computer savvy. lol
Ps...Thanks again for looking at it. :)
Well I have GimpShop and it has a plugin for .dds files.....I have some experience with aircraft "skinning" in other games. I'm not an "artiste" by any means...but I can do basic stuff. ;) Still working on my morning pot of coffee. I may look into it later this evening.
I've read through your guide a couple of times. Might as well be in Chinese to me. LOL Not YOUR fault, like I said, me no computer savvy. All I can do is just follow directions and not try to think about what all those strange word/symbols mean.
