It's not automated. While not crazy expensive it dose run about as much as an average Mk 3 weapon, and requires you go into aim mode to shoot down missles.
Flak broadsides shoot out slow moveing projectiles that explode. The explosions can catch missles and fighters, but aren't guided or aimed and fast ships tend to outrun them, leaveing the flak far behind.
EMP flak is weird, and dosn't seem to hurt missiles at all.
I'd love a missile defense turret that would shoot them down automaticly, or maybe some kind of flare launcher that lures them into blowing up away from the ship.
Mostly though, I'd love for flak broadsides to at least be able to toggle on rather then needing to hold the button.
