How to zoom out?
Would love the game, but all I can see is the ass end of my own ship! Doesnt appear to be any "zoom camera" control mappable. Any way to pull back the camera a bit? Really frustrating in a fight, cant see a damn thing.

the combat isn't designed to sit behind your ship. you need to rotate and use broadsides. only real time it'll be behind you is for warp.

No, I get that, what Im saying is my ship consumes pretty much the whole screen. Id like to pull back a bit, be able to get a more tactical look at things. Even in broadside, I have a real problem finding my target(s) because the view is so constrained.

Yeah, i'm with OP on this one. Being able to zoom out a bit further would be awesome. :)

It would be nice, but I think it's like FPS games. It adds tension. In a 2D environment, im ok with what we have, I just have to keep an eye on my radar.

I was a bit frustrated at first with being in so close, but the more I play the less it has become a factor. It would be nice to be able to pull back a bit to see more around the ship. Give the team some time to deal with launch day issues and then they may have time to revisit this.

I've had it zoom in on my ship while trying to give them the broadside, and the zoom is so close I can barely see the aiming lane.

+1 with the OP. I'd really love a larger FOV. That and to be able to change the camera angle a bit.

+1 for camera zoom out

+1 to have the option to pullt he camera back a bit, especially when viewing from the side during broadside combat.

You have ZERO combat awareness of your surroundings during combat becuase of how close the camera is. This makes it very easy for you to run head first into objects or other ships because you cant even see things that are 10 feet in front of you. You also have no visibility of any other aspects of combat going on around you.

With high tech sensors and equipment, there is no legit reason for the amount of virtual "blindness" you have during broadside combat in this game. I love the game so far, its a ton of fun... but the lack of view awareness is very frustrating and clunky. I understand the devs reason for it, as it really gives that up close "pirate ship" combat feel, but at least give players the option to adjust things if they wish.

To be honest, camera problems have lead me to ask for a refund.

I tend to steer by radar looking at my minimap occasionally when I'm using broadsides, things like asteroids and debris show up as contacts, so you can adjust course to avoid them usually.

I'm not sure about the zoomout, I'm sure the question came up during development, likely a design decision to lock the camera distance.

in the heat of combat, radar isnt always the easiest thing to steer by.

The title screen has a brilliant and wonderful space opera combat going on. Thats how combat in the game should feel like too. Only, it often doesnt, because 75% of what is going on, is outside your range of view, because of how close you are zoomed into your ship during broadside combat.

Whle NOT holding the right mouse button (or whatever button focuses your aim on the controller), the zoom is relatively comfortable, but I wouldn't mind it being zoomed out just a LITTLE bit further.

When aiming broadsides, the camera feels like it's zooming in further than I'd like, and I wish I could disable that, or change the zoom level independently so it zooms in to the current normal zoom level from that slightly wider view I want.

+1 zoom, I'm on a 34" ultra wide display, most of the time spent looking at the engines of my ship :/
