Fault tracker?
Ok, so I bought and installed a Fault Tracker and mining laser on the first ship.

The ingame tutorial talks about fault lines that become visible after scanning. Is this something I am supposed to see and target manually with my laser?

I've scanned a few astroids with minerals in them but never seen any of these fault lines. Any clarification on this would be appriciated.

With some you need to wait until the red circles rotate around to face you. Keep pulse scanning/moving around each one. Most of them have fault circles but every now and then some won't. If you go into turret mode with your mining laser you shouldn't have too much difficulty locking your reticle onto one of the circles.

I was struggling with this for a while until I moved to a new area and it suddenly started working. I think the area I started in had electrical interference or something.

I haven't been able to find a single fault with my fault tracker. They never show up on any asteroids at all. What the hell is going on?

Try sending out pulses more often. The fault indicators dissapear after a while.

I think they only show up on asteroids that have minerals in them. Most of the fields are just dead and have no minable stuff in them.

And sometime theys don't show up on asteriods with minerals in them.

Does anyone have laser turrets that random attack asteroids after equipping the Fault Tracker?
Mine did till I unequipped it.

I've not seen random attack but laser turrets of all types will fire with the mining laser at locked asteriods.

IMO it's a waste of money. I never once saw the red circles these people talk about, and I know how to use both the pulse and scan targets.

The best way to mine in Rebel Galaxy? Use your mining lasers to blow up miners and take the ore that they mined.

It seems to me that FT only works on Obtanium and metallic ore asteroids.

I use the FT. I stumbeled upon a field with 7 HUGE metallic rocks, each one taking 2 minutes to crack with my 4 mk5 mining lasers, yeilding 3 face of gozu each. Im pretty sure only 1 would be yielded without the FT. Then again, if you never go mining but do find such a field, simply mark it on the map, get the FT and come back.

I believe using the fault tracker is really only for the Achievement. Now that being said. I have used the fault tracking to mine "--> A lot a lot ALOT<--" a lot of resources. In the beginning, I got 1 resource from a single asteroid, and with the fault tracker installed I can get up to 3 or 4 resources from a single asteroid. Meteoric Diamonds are water and I have got 4 from a single asteroid in an ice field. I didn't get the red bulls eye like the Obtanium and the Metallic Ore but the yield increases using the fault tracker.

Check if your graphics setting are at below max. That seems to cause the red circles to not appear. I never ever saw one while I had shadows to 'off', but setting them to 'ultra' gave me red circles all over the place.
