Warp Drive automatic slow down
I've noticed this seems to be a feature of the game where, while using your warp drive to travel across the solar system with ease;

It actually automatically slows itself down when near a 'location of interest' whether it be friendlies/enemies (hitbox is a lot smaller for them) or if it's a nebula/asteroid field (much larger hitbox) it'll slow you down as you go by if you're close enough.

WIth the sheer amount of locations in the first solar system (I assume the same for others as it's all randomly generated) I find the hit box for where it slows you down is too large. I know it's a little hard when it's all randomly generated and this is to avoid bugs like flying into an asteroid field too fast and just instantly blowing up. (Because it seems it slows it down so it can stop more easily and exit warp to avoid running through something)

But I reckon it'd be a nice improvement lowering how much locations hinder you from moving at top speed in warp, as it's very irritating trying to get from one end to the other (which sometimes has to happen because of a mission location) and you have to weave around multiple locations to avoid having your speed hindered and ruining the atmosphere of warping, as, that's one of the key atmospherical parts of the game, warping is such a big thing in this and because you do it so often, it HAS to be enjoyable. You should be warping in a straight line, not all over the place to avoid being slowed down, taking longer to get to your destination and you should not be slowed down so significantly to the point you can literally see how slow the asteroid field you're passing is going by, to then suddenly ZIP as if you have a sudden boost of power.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

It's a little annoying at first but you get used to it. The game is basically naval combat in space which means you're going to have to watch out for navigational hazards a lot more often than you would in a true space sim.

Yeah, I completely agree with that though.
It's the space between jump locations that causes problems. Like, even when I'm relatively at a fair distance from a location, it'll still slow me down as I fly by which is not particularly a nice feature and ruins the idea we all have of warping.
I'm talking about when you have to warp across the solar system, not when you're in amongst an asteroid field.

I noticed that when I warp to an area that slows me down..I usually stop and check out the area, as there is something closeby that I haven't discovered yet or a bunch of enemy ships within 100 meter distances that needs attending to...since getting the Blackgate and increasing everything to 6 with damages maxed out, I haven't lost a fight yet....so yea, I got time to stop and see whats going on when the warp slows me down...the missions aren't going anywhere until I get there anyway.

When I have "time" I just zip across the galaxy just to give the enemies a chance to buzz about me as I slowly zapped them into space dust...if its red, its dead.

You will find that astroid fields, junk fields and so on can be a great place to pick up unexpected treasures. I seldom do a lot of buying, but I always make sure I puck up salvage (drops) to sell. I usually sell stuff like metalic ore, and nuts & Bolts at whatever price I can get for it, but I tend to hold on to more valueable items. I joined the merchants guild, I now have their biggest cargo expander so I can afford to hold on to stuff longer to try for a better price, but at first I had to turn my inventory over very often because I just didn't have the space for it

You guys are straying from the actual topic at hand.
Yes, all that is great, stopping and doing some looking around, WHEN YOU WANT TO.
Scavaging and hunting down any enemies nearby, OF COURSE and esspecially for enemies I understand having a wider range of slowing you down or stopping your warp is needed in this game, as it's a sort of surprise attack because warping at such speeds you can't tell what you may encournter enroute to your destination.

But my topic is not about this.
It's about that the ship is actually automatically being sloweddown so the warp speed, whatever measurement it's using for speed, such as 100x/s
(x/s - measurement per second)
what ever that speed was again, some made up measurement?... sm?

As I pass by a POSSIBLE location of interest, my 100x/s will slow down to 50x/s because it seems to be a game feature to prevent you going too fast and clipping objects and instantly dying, so it automatically slows you down to prepare for IF you run into an object that'd cause your ship harm. But it does this as you're too close to a location and you pass by it even though I'm not stopping there, because perhaps I'm not stopping as I am trying to get to a location such as a space station I particularly want to travel to (perhaps my cargo hold is full? no point exploring atm?)

There's hundreds of extra locations aside the key locations.
I can explore when ever I want, I don't want it slowing me down automatically as I go by a location of interest.
It should stay at the 100x/s speed and only instantly stop me if I come into near contact with an object like it does at the moment rather than slow me down first.

As my suggestions were:
Remove the slow down feature if possible, otherwise I understand it may be in place to avoid bugs or semantic errors where your ship will just clip objects and blow.
OR
Lower the size of the 'hit box' of the randomly generated locations in which once you pass through, your warp speed is significantly decreased. That way we may more easily pass in a straight line and only have to slightly turn, rather than do a wide turn around locations, ruining your warp speed feeling.
Which is traditionally in a straight line.
(Being a hardcore fan of Science Fiction)
as, in reality, going at such speeds would be in a way, unpredictable and hard to achieve if we're talking about a realistic application, with such distances it's impossible to turn at them speeds.
Which is why it's all traditionally portrayed as location identification (some sort of coordinates) then warp speed in that direction.

Thanks for taking the time to read my revised opinion to clarify what I mean, hopefully that makes those understand where I am coming from.
I am being EXTREMELY elaborate for a simple game feature which is just a small irritating pet peeve that I have going on at the moment with the game.

So heres the thing, you will still get to the place you need to go, and nothing has a time limit

Quality of life aspect.
This isn't some kind of unfortunate bug etc or problem that causes the game to be too hard.
It simply is an irritating aspect and it's the least of their worries I know, but it's something I can still point out.

Every few years I check and see if this has been updated/modded, so I hear you OP and I'm with you eight years later!
