It is intended for a mouse and keyboard, not a joystick. G buy Elite Dangerous if you want to spend a few hundred dollars on control sticks to play your 20 dollar video game.
Correct Pal
Well the game suggests you play with a controller, but I use mouse and keyboard and it feels like it was perfectly designed for that control scheme to me.
But you're right, it's definitely not a game for flight stick controls. That's more for elite dangerous kind of space flight game.
for this game it would make it seem a bit weird without being able to spin and slide the ship around as well, that would create a whole can of worms problems with the way the fighting and gameplay overall is currently setup.
the game does needs to incorporate everyting into the game fully and get rid of the pre-game setup stuff, as well as adding more customizations to the game keybindings and such...
There are veeeery few times I felt that the game was missing the 3D aspect cause of the way the games is designed it just fits the 2D grid so well that you don't really think about it most of the time.
