Radio Static...
Been searching for a way to turn off the extremely loud radio static. This game has been out for a little while now and the only things I've found are people with the same problem and it's never been fixed?
Is there a hero out there for me, because it doesn't matter how low I turn down the volume it stays the same extremely loud spike that I just can't enjoy the game anymore. One of the reasons I wanted to play the game was because of the soundtrack so it is a deal breaker :)

So I'll ask again is there a hero out there or that one forum post I missed on how to fix this.
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: So, thank you Zidders Roofurry and Sunny Milk. Both of your suggestions worked out in the end for me. I had to download a program called FileDate Changer v1.1 and was able to bring the DATA2.pak up to the current date and now there's not a single Radio message with the static noise anymore so, Thank You! :D

Hey thanks for that but it didn't work sadly.
Instructions say the data2.pak has to be a newer version than the data.pak and it isn't :)

Radio Static?

I think I'm missing something here, what Radio Static, I've never had any issue with any form of static, I've been playing this game for quite sometime and have never seen anyone complain about any form of static also :tradelane:

Are you sure it's nothing to do with your own hardware, a bad earth maybe?

I'm a little Confused.com right now

Hey Alienmoon, I'll post a little video that is not my own but you'll notice it in there. The unbalanced sound ratio is just too high. I either have to mute the game or give up on the game it is that earbleeding loud no matter how low I put my sound.
Maybe a little warning aswell, when you hear it you might not unhear it anymore and maybe it'll ruin your gaming experience so be warned! :D

@Sunny Milk, I'll check that out when I have the chance!

I don't have this problem, and probably more people don't as they use their sound FX volume at 75% or more.
But unwillingly, this works for me. I use a sound volume mixer driver on my PC (for skyrim's extremely low volume) that forces me to use all other applications at 30% volume or else the sound will just clip (for the sound card not being able to make such high volumes).

Well, for what matters about this issue, just open your windows sound mixer while Rebel Galaxy is open and you'll have a slider to the volume corresponding to the game (there will be the icon and name in one of the columns, as soon as you open the game, you may need to scroll right as last open application tends to be listed last).

Then there, pull down the volume. You may try first some 50% volume, then turn up the volume in rebel galaxy until you can get a comfortable audio at ~70-100% set up in-game.

At least here I would TOTALLY have noticed a high volume spike as you described if it was not obeying windows mixer's.

On a side note I'm using Windows 10, but this should work fine down to windows 7. To open the sound mixer:
- right-click the speaker icon on your system tray (where you set master volume) and choose 'open volume mixer'
- press the 'windows button' + 'r' key (will open the 'run' dialog) then type "sndvol" and enter (some older windows versions would be sndvol32, but it is always in path so you can just go with this).

If you are curious about the sound FX thingy I use, it can only fiddle with volume (bass, treble, filters, etc, kinda advanced) for the master volume. I can't choose a given application to apply the volume to, independently. So as I use it to boost sound volume for Skyrim, I always need to set up every other application down to 30% (as I applied a +20dB gain to the master volume). The application is called Equalizer APO, open source and available at source forge website, just google for it and you'll find it.

Again this application should NOT be required for that trick, what you require is just feeling the sound volume too high if set at 75-100% in the game.

@avenger, thank you for the reply but I was already trying out such programs and even if I had the sound at 1% the radio static was still earbleeding while I didn't hear the rest anymore I had to simply mute it to get rid of it but muting is half the game experience. But I got it working now with the sort of mod files from what Zidders suggested.
But thank you for your insights :)
