Freezes at title screen

Had this issue before, read a forum post and fixed it - but can't remember what the fix was and where I found the forum post. So I'll have to ask here.

The game freezes after start up - the title screen just stops working just as it is about to load. The game then will not respond until I sign out of my Windows account - not even task manager functions when the game has crashed, it steals the focus and won't let go until you forcefully kill it by signing out of Windows entirely.

I know it is fixable as I have done it before - anyone care to jog my memory on how it is done?

That wasn't the fix I applied before but it still worked anyway so thank you!

Was the fix before to go offline on uPlay? Because that was my initial fix, but this disable ingame overlay allows you to play online :)

Some time ago I had the same issue, I had to delete 2 files in ...\Documents\Assassin's Creed Unity:

ACU
GFXSettings.ACU

That fixed it for me.

Did you actually do that or is that a joke?

I actually did that. Those files are replaced once you restart the game. I'll see if I can find a link to where I got it from.

Do note this will reset your graphics settings, and it worked before 1.4. I cannot confirm if 1.4 changed this or not.
