So you'll probably need to set up port forwarding, for the host at the least. Do it for the game or Steam, you don't need to bother doing it for both (same ports are used, as the game uses Steam networking features).
Here are the ports to forward for Endless Legend:
TCP Ports: 27014-27050
UDP Ports: 3478, 4379-4380, 27000-27031, 27036

The game seems to connect and join fine. The clients can see the proper settings, you can see when a player clicks ready, and the game starts at the same time when everybody's ready.
We were making progress in the game for those first two play sessions.
Our main problem is it randomly started locking the clients into "single player" for the game mode at the top and wouldn't let them change it even though it was a multiplayer game. The drop down option to change it wasn't even there, even though it just joined a game. So seemingly because of that it won't those people in single player mode actually join in.
Our last attempt the game was listing random numbers in the "game will start in so many seconds" countdown until it said -1000 ish and froze.
We'll look into the port forwarding option though. Possibly double check firewall too.
