[PSA] Fixing Most Tech Problems With Rise And Fall/Gathering Storm

Are you having issues with

1) Start a game but drops back to the main menu
2) Some UI elements don't work
3) New game crashes
4) Weird bugs
5) DLC civs not available

99% of these are because you have old mods installed or a few config issues

Mac Linux Currently Not Supported

If you're running Mac or Linux, currently the R&F expansion is not available for those platforms. Aspyr indicates it will be around March before it is available for those platforms

Disable Your Anti-Virus

Some anti-virus programs are blocking the DLC. Disable your AV or add Civ6 to the whitelisting

Enable DLC In Steam

Go into Steam and click on Civ6 in your library. Ensure you have the DLC listed in the DLC section and it is checked off

Delete mods.sqllite File

Civ6 must NOT be running when you do this step

Old mods will cause lots of issues in R&F. Delete the file in

My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\mods.sqllite

The file might only show up as 'mods'. Delete this file

Reverify your game cache

* Goto your Steam Library
* Right click -> Properties on Civ6
* Go to the LOCAL FILES tab
* Click "Verify Integrity of Game files"

Ensure DLC is Enabled In Game

* Click Additional Content on the main menu
* Only have "Official Content" checked
* Ensure "Expansion Rise and Fall" is enabled

DISABLE ALL MODS

This causes 99% of crashes and weird game problems. DISABLE ALL MODS!!

* Click Additional Content on the main menu
* Only have "Community Created Content" checked
* Click "Disable All"
* Ensure all listed mods have "disabled" beside them

Ensure DLC Is Selected In Game Mode

* This is when you do not see any new DLC civs as options
* When creating a new game ensure the "Ruleset" option shows "Expansion: Rise and Fall"

* IF you do not see this in the pulldown, note Mac and Linux are not yet supported with Rise and Fall. So you won't see the pulldown on those platforms

DO NOT LOAD CONFIGURATION

* DO NOT load configuration when creating a game.
* Doing so re-enables the mods and will cause issues

Final Scorched Earth Policy

If you manually installed mods or edited some files, those edits could be causing corruption in your game. To address this

1) Uninstall Civ6
2) got to the install directory \steam\steamapps\common\
3) delete the folder "Sid Meier's Civilization VI"
4) reinstall the game
5) REPEAT ALL OF THE ABOVE

I activated key without any problem, i see rise and fall position on license history list but not in library.
I had similar problem with XCOM 2 dlc. Update was stared after few days. Don't want to wait so long this time.

If by some chance you sent a message to steam to get the game expansion removed (like I did earlier) and they refund you, then, without restarting steam, you repurchase the game. You'll find it doesn't work, this is because the game thinks it's still updated.

If anyone finds themselves in this predicament. Untick the R&F expansion, wait for it to reset, then retick it and let it download the expansion. Then you'll be good to go.

Followed all these steps. Still crashes on creating new game.

I still can't get my mouse wheel to work, the arrow keys, mouse edge scrolling, and many other things. I did everything on this list AND updated Windows, my graphics card, restarted everything. Still broken.

Aspyr I believe indicated sometime in March but that's not set in stone
