Units Moving Without Input
Tell me why every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time I play this game I end up with units moving around the map at random and dying because they don't listen to instructions? Tell me why telling a unit to defend and heal somehow ends with that unit; nowhere near where I gave them the order, suddenly being ambushed with no health? This game is garbage. WTF is wrong with this game. This game forces the player to lose and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I can set the game to easy/huge/and no opponets and somehow the game will ♥♥♥♥ me over by moving my units all over the map and killing them for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason. I hate this game. This ♥♥♥♥ sucks and still plays like absolute crap after years.

if you issue a move order that would take more than 1 turn to complete the unit will continue to move towards that path automatically when its turn in your unit cycle occurs. Otherwise I've no idea what your even talking about. Units don't teleport around willy nilly and if the unit was injured then obviously even the ai would try to kill it while its weakened. also check what kinds of mods you may be running from the workshop in case its adding some kind of weird functionality to the game.

Well in my case I occasionally the screen is not centered for whatever reason on the current and I think i am moving one unit when I'm actually moving another These days I mostly catch and immediately rectify the proposition

Units don't move randomly - they do exactly what you tell them to do. The challenge lies in paying attention to what unit is selected when you issue the order. Like grognardgary, I sometimes find myself giving the wrong orders because I thought a different unit was selected (happened earlier today, in fact).

My advice is to slow down. When you right-click a space, look at the black line that shows the path. If that line does not connect to the unit you are attempting to move, don't let up on the mouse - instead, scroll the map to your unit that is selected and change accordingly. Most of the time the biggest mistakes I make are caused by going too fast. It is a turn-based game. Go ahead and take your time to make each move carefully.

Yeah. There should be a flashing warning when launching a game: "before making your move, always click on the unit's portrait to center the image on it, specially in the begining of turns". :)

Hard to remember to do when you are zipping past 10 20 units most of which you have no intention of moving unless there is a barb nearby that need killing

You either put the units on "auto explore", or you're moving the units far beyond their movement range and, "after all these years of playing", haven't figured out that they will continue to move each turn until they reach their destination.

I haven't really commented on posts in a while on Civ 6 because there are a few users who are very helpful and make sure to try and answer people's questions, so I've kinda "backed off". But, I still read them from time to time. You've done an awful lot of complaining and whining lately. Either quit playing the game, or learn how to play.

I've never noticed this happening... only when I've balls it up and initially selected the wrong unit anyway.
Beans Dec 18, 2024 @ 4:51pm
I know what Auto-Explore is and I don't use it.
I click on the units I want to use before I use them.
It doesn't matter... every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game some unit just decides to travel half the map without any input from me at all. It happens every game. I havehundreds of hours with this game.. I have thousands of hours with the previous.. I know how the game plays and I know this version of Civ is completely F'd and units will randomly move without input from the player. Either the game is storing clicks and randomly imputing them after a turn has ended or there's a bug..and I consider the game storing clicks and moving your units minutes after you clicked a bug because there's no way in hell to account for that ♥♥♥♥. This game is such a broken mess. Even Civ Beyond mostly worked and everybody hated that game. Civ 6 is pure garbage.

I almost never comment on a post--but Beans, I have no idea what you are talking about. "Randomly move"? Unless it is something special with your computer: no.

Sometimes i accidentally move a unit very far when i'm trying to click on a city or another unit without closing the unit menu and i miss it. Maybe that's what's happening?

Well, dunno what to tell ya... I have almost 1,500 hours in this game and have never had any unit, ever, simply move on it's own. I have, however, clicked somewhere for a unit to go and only later realize I accidentally sent the wrong unit there (e.g., a builder instead of a scout), which is something both Grognard and Stavix pointed out. If I were to guess, this is most likely what's happening. The best way to fix that is to be a bit more careful and not try to rush so much. In any case, units don't ever move on their own.

One last thing, If send the unit on a long distance move that runs through a choke point it will stop where ever it is if something else occupies either the choke point or the designated destination if both it and the other unit cannot occupy that tile at the same time.

Maybe something wrong with your mouse making random right clicks time to time ?
Like Rfit, I have thousand of hours in the game and never ever seen a unit moving by itself
Copernicus Dec 19, 2024 @ 11:02am
I often play this game deep into the night. Late into a session, I'll have units suddenly move or other events occur simply because I end up resting my hand on the mouse and accidentally clicking buttons. :)

I wish there was some sort of log or something. There's a lot going on in this game. I'm not making this up, if y'all don't notice it happening, then that sucks and I'm sorry for you. I've never felt like I needed a undo button but this version of Civ desperately needs it because this ♥♥♥♥ ruins the game. I wish I would of been recording when I made this post. I literally told a unit to defend and never touched it again, then suddenly 30 turns later it just roams off on its own and gets itself killed. Last input from the player was to defend; not to move and I Immediately selected next turn. WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ IS THE UNIT MOVING?
