Launching from Steam

You’ll now be able to select Dx11 and Dx12 directly from the Steam Launch Options menu after you click “Play” for Civilization VI on Steam. Steam also allows you to select “Always use this option”, so you can even reduce this to a single click of the Play button on Steam to launch the game. No more extra steps!

One thing to note, Steam desktop shortcuts always launch using the default (top) option on any Steam Launch Options list. This means the game will always open the DirectX 12 version if you launch using a Desktop Shortcut, even if you set DirectX 11 as your preferred option. If you want to launch the DirectX 11 version, you will need to launch the game directly from the Steam Client.

If you’re not seeing the options while launching from Steam and want to change your preferred version, this can be adjusted in the game’s Properties menu on the general tab. Either right click on the game in Steam or select the gear on the game’s library page in Steam and select “Properties” and you'll be able to make the changes there. From here, you're all set!

The 2K Launcher stores files in two locations on your computer and there are two methods for removing them.

For the first method, please follow these steps:

1. Open your computer’s File Explorer
2. Select “View” at the top of the window and toggle on the “Hidden items” option
3. Click “This PC” and open the C drive
4. From here, open the “Users” folder and choose your Windows profile username
5. Open “AppData”
6. Open the Local folder and delete the “T2GP Launcher” folder
7. Go back to the “AppData” folder
8. Finally, open the Roaming folder and delete the “T2GP Launcher” folder

For a quicker, more advanced method, you can locate the files in your Windows search bar by using the following lines of text for each folder:

Local folder:

• %localappdata%\T2GP Launcher

Roaming Folder:

• %appdata%\T2GP Launcher

*Please note that it is completely safe to delete the entire T2GP Launcher folders in both locations, but only those folders.

Also, both folders and the files within will be recreated after deleting them if you launch a game that uses the 2K Launcher.

Edit: Would be nice to know, if the leader Julius Caesar and the cat scout are still available, only, if you have a 2k account connected with Steam - my guess is nothing changed, this case, or am I wrong about?

Edit edit: And why is the comment area from Civ 6 latest news about removal of 2k launcher closed - 2 hours past posting the news itself? I wonder, as long as it wasn't common, yet, to close comments in news area?

its closed because nobody likes crap launchers or 3rd party drm garbage. having your thread spammed with people cheering about your software being removed makes the bosses look bad.

The launcher had nothing to do with Julius Caesar and the cat scout. This really is old news. I guess they announced it again fro some reason.

I forgot the game had a launcher. I manually removed it years ago.

i never understood its purpose in the first place. here me out all the information we need to know about the game was on steam. If its a antipiracy thing doesn't steam already do that? i mean i never looked at the launcher for more than 10 seconds.

It was for advertising purposes, IMO.

It wasn't even in the game until about 2 years after it initially launched. And it was added to Civ 5 at that same time.
