@DEVS Give us a Notre-Dame Wonder DLC and donate the earnings for a rebuilding effort!
Notre-Dame is no wonder in CIV 6!
Wouldn't it be nice to add it as an offical DLC and gift the earnings towards a fund dedicated for rebuilding it?

Agreed - it would be great to see sites desecrated by IS etc like the Bamiyam buddhas or great works from Palmyra like the funerary busts curator Khalid al-Asaad gave his life defending living on electronically in Civ VI, for example, but Firaxis already has to contend with 'include my country too' syndrome and has to consider game balance when introducing new elements to the game.

As you say, there are significant elements of cost in producing new game assets, for charity or otherwise, though it wouldn't be bad publicity for the title either and would give fans an opportunity to contribute too, which they clearly want to on evidence from this thread.

I like this idea too.

Firaxis, do it!

Actually, the need for donations for the repair are not needed. On the other hand, there are many local organizations, including churches that could use the help.
Lady Crimson (RIP) 17/abr./2019 às 21:33
Well they could donate it to some group, pretty sure the church is fine on money though.

And Firaxis could donate it to us as free DLC , what a grand idea .:):)

From interviews, I get the impression that the devs have greatest respect world cultural heritage and cherish it. Not sure they run the finance department though, who have last say on expenditures.

Right. The proceeds can't go *100%* to reconstruction efforts. The time and expertise needed to create the art assets (especially the wonder build sequence, whoa...this would've been easier in Civ V!), balance it with everything else, etc., is not free. And you need a thumbnail, and you need to get Sean Bean into the studio, and...(wow, this piles up quick). Firaxis would have to cover its costs.

All that said though, I think it's a great opportunity for the title. I'm sure Ed and the team are working on it already.

Well generally thats part of the donation the company is doing. They compt the expenses of making the dlc as part of the donation.

Here is a short video of one of my favorite YouTubers about the history of Notre-Dame.
I really recommend to watch it if you want to have a brief overview about the long history of this monument of men.

an entire nation in africa got decimated by storms, with tens of thousands dead and this is the top concern? A building in one of the richest countries in the world?

Any church built before 1905 is owned by the French government not the Catholic Church.
