If you modded the quotes, you could just mute Mr. Bean (see what I did there?). I don't think that would hurt the game, although I do appreciate his narration talent. If it was a choice between better quotes and keeping Sean Bean, I'd jettison Bean. He never lives to see the end of any of his movies anyways.
Some of them are just really bad though, wonders especially got the shaft. No more great phrases like 'all the worlds a stage', 'pale death beats equally', 'time crumbles everything', the quetzal shall come', 'we live only to discover beauty', '2 things are needed, a plan and not quite enough time' etc.
No, we get boring details about people watering plants for the Gardens, something about sports for Chichen Itza, saying how the Collosus took a lot of bronze to make, some nonsense about how the forbidden palace is facing north (or whatever it's so boring I don't caaaaare) and others.
There's still good ones, I remember pyramids and Hagia Scopia as standouts, but the bad ones are really, really bad.
"As it turns out, Mount Kilimanjaro is not wi-fi enabled, so I had to spend two weeks in Tanzania talking to the people on my trip."
Completely kills immersion and any historical feeling the game should have.
Every play through of Civ V I would listen to the whole voice over, every time. Civ VI I skip.
I've never clicked the little x's on popup windows so fast, and so often. In any game.
The furthest I get on quotes, before shutting them down...
"The..."
When you start putting in quotes from Courtney Cox on the subject of lasers, I don't care how funny or ironic it's supposed to be. It's not particularly surprising or amusing that something she said about lasers is stupid, and like others, I frantically close most of the quote pop-ups as quickly as possible to avoid the inevitable groan and grimace.
Honestly, I'd rather just mod them out and say sorry Sean Bean, but it's high time you died in this movie. Good narrator narrating complete trash < silence accompanied by powerful words.
I like them well enough myself too. But when the quotes are bad, they're really, really bad.
V didn't have that problem. VI does though. I think because the quotes are pretty much doubled and very specific. Quantity and limitation don't lead to quality, I'd think.
So terry pratchett is terrible but u need to remark that awful play on words with mr bean....u know nothing jon snow ...
