Game does not start - Missing executable message
Have over the min requirements - ran the game successfully in medium graphic settings after I installed. No anti-virus/conflicting services running. I tried verifying game cache (1 missing file), and I notice Steam trying to update the application with a ~7mb file but "update cancelled" message before it completes.

Any ideas?

The file is 7.4MB - it never completes the download, it keeps re-downloading and failing.

HELP!

I am running win 7 64bit fully updated, I have disabled windows defender, no conflicting programs/services running, uninstalled and re-installed all C++, repaired 2012/2015, re-installed full game, all drivers are updated, but it still won't work. Most frustrating is that I had logged dozens of hours of game time but when I restarted the computer, I cannot download the executable and the application will not load. I have attempted all the fixes offered by 2K and they have not answered since. I've requested a refund from Steam - as a lifelong Civ fan I am totally disappointed.

No other Win 7 users have experienced this problem?

Hello,
Just wanted to share I finally got it working again by doing the following.
Repaired C++ 2012, restarted, repaired 2015, restarted, uninstalled civ 6, restarted, changed download region code to a random US city, re-downloaded, and it finally launched. I had already tried the above repairs, though I had changed region to another country region. Don't know why that affects launching the .exe file though. Can't id the problem, scared to restart and have it fail.. may leave Civ running (again) until I finish my game.

International releases often have security measures that "region lock" in an attempt to stop grey-market sites from undercutting their sales by manipulating currency exchange rates.
