Game stuck on copyright notice text, can't click on the 'Continue' box.
After the games loads a bit, throws the couple company names up, and then shows the huge wall of copyright notice/legal disclaimer screen with the first clickable 'Continue' button, I cannot actually do anything to click it.

My mouse will move around, but the box can't be selected. It won't show it as of have been 'moused-over'. No keys/hotkeys/Enter/Space/etc., works either. It just sits on that screen and won't allow me to continue.

Have been trying for ages to fix it, have looked around and seen solutions for all the different problems but none of them have helped. Already had the Windows 8.1 updates installed, all my drivers/etc., are up-to-date, and I've installed/verified and that, all the standard stuff they blame before admitting it's something they did you need to fix/tweak yourself unless they need to patch it =p

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was super excited for this, but I'm so sick of my favourite developers/titles/series being unplayable at launch that I kick myself every time for not waiting for a sale lol. I know it might sound dramatic, and I know they can't 100% test all possibilities before-hand, I'm just tired of paying like £50 and then spending a day getting it to work.

Unrelated - apologies for more rant...
Unrelated to Civ 6 but on the subject of, in my opinion, failed launch days - Took me about 6 hours spread over a few days, messing around with countless things, to finally get GalCiv 3 to play after it's launch because they said, 'It's definitely your problem on your end' to players - and then they finally patch the problem a week later realizing it was actually their fault a week later.

Same issue here... what monitor do you have? Maybe it is the resolution i am thinking .. let me try that.

Well there you go it worked.
As the game launches default with a 16:9 aspect ratio you will get into trouble if you have a 21:9 for instance. The Button appears to be in the background image and there is a layer ontop of the image that is supposed to be on the same spot.
That remembers me of my first HTML trys 15 bloody years ago. Holy moly and a payed bloody 80Eur for this.
You might be able to hit the button by clicking frantically on the area below the button. If not you have to first change your monitor resolution to 16:9 which will make all your windows windows resize and you have to spend hours fixing that again.

I discovered that when first starting the game, all of the UI was visually offset to the right compared to where the actual buttons were (so you have to aim to the left of the actual buttons).

First thing I did was change the resolution and set to windowed, which resolved the problem for me.

It's an absolutely unforgivable bug, tbh. Really obvious, and really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I've tried that a few times to no avail. Edited the App settings file to windowed/borderless/fullscreen, different resolutions, and changed my actual desktop settings as well. Just couldn't get it to work.

Had a minor miracle where it was changing with a flickering screen from alt-tabbing and I was massively mashing and clicking, and it somehow got it to work. Don't know if I can re-create again lol...=/

So looks like I'm never closing the game until they fix whatever it is... And if there's a power-cut (which with my luck, it'll be any minute now), then I'm just going to forever curse Firaxis for this torture.

I had to install Civ6 to same drive as my steam-program files are...

For those who come here later and cannot launch or close the game because of this:
1. Go to \Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI
2. Edit AppOptions.txt
3. Change this:
;0 : windowed, 1 : fullscreen, 2 : windowed with no title bar FullScreen 1
To this:
;0 : windowed, 1 : fullscreen, 2 : windowed with no title bar FullScreen 0

After not playing this for a couple of years, I started a game, watched the opening cinematic, then the next screen with the copyright message came on with the continue button which appeared perfectly frozen. I noticed that the lettering was unusually small. So the resolution was incorrect. It turned out it was set at 4k. I couldn't have done that in-game. I don't use a 4k monitor so it's not an option in the game's menu. Weird.. Well this is what fixed this:
As mentioned earlier, there is a game configuration text file here:
1. Go to \Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI
2. Edit AppOptions.txt
3. find the lines below and change 3840 and 2160 to 2560x1440 or 1920x1080 or whatever your monitor can handle.

;Render width in pixels.
RenderWidth 3840

;Render height in pixels.
RenderHeight 2160

I had this but couldn't find the files described as above. I eventually managed to fix this by opening the NVidia Geforce Experience app and Optimising the game so it opened with the correct resolution.

Also 10/10 game, spending 30 minutes trying to fix it so it works on boot really adds to the experience
