Restart the game on the same map?
I want to start the game over due to a bad decision I made at the very start. Unfortunately, I don't have a save of the game before that point. Is there any way to restart the map? Same leader, same settings, same map.

Only if you use advanced setup you get the option to save the setup so you can just select it every time.
If you never done that before starting the game, then no.

Found a solution!

1. Find your save in your game folder:C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Saves\Single
2. Copy this save from Single folder to Multi or Hotseat folder. You may need to create the folder manually if you haven't played multiplayer, so it is not there yet.
3. When creating a new multiplayer game, choose this save and load it to the lobby (no need to actualy start the game).
4. Click on the settings button at the top and you will see the seeds from your saved game at the bottom.
5. Create a new game with these seeds.

It works! Hooray!

By "seeds" irakez means Map Seed and Game Seed. Map seed is responsible for creating non-player parts: plots, terrain, features and resources. Game seed is responsible for player and CS placement as well as deciding which CS will appear.

I just save the first turn of every game called "Start" simple.

ive been playing with mods this whole time and it gives me a restart feature that appears on the ingame menu. Thought was a part of the base game, check the workshop.

I had to check first myself, but you are right indeed. There is no Initial save in the Autosave folder which stays there until you start a new game. (when using the ingame loading game option)

Hopefully the Devs are aware of this. I can't imagine this should be very hard to implement in the game.

For example In Civ 5 there is for every game you play an:
- "initial_autosave_0000 -BC4000"

This is for some players VERY HANDY

@irakez: thanks for the workaround method :)

There is a restart option in the main menu. But that gives you a new map, not the same map.

Game has default previous 10 turns are autosaved. Even turn 1 before you found your first city is autosaved up to 10 turns (I think, it's quite a few). You also have the quicksave slot and manual saving. Restart option is available by default and should give you a brand new map according to whatever settings are toggled, however I did have one game that gave me an identical map upon restart. Was sort of creepy.

Good idea Toadman. I dont mind restarting for a new game on the same map if I make a series of duh moves before I get to about 20 or so. It is just a game. Restart and see what happens!

Thank you so much. This was useful for me, too.
