Why are my Moai Stones facing the wrong way?
I thought the whole point of them was that they faced outwards towards the sea to scare off pirates.. well evil spirits..

Nope, they face inland and are correct. They were placed to face the community that made them, and most of the time that means inland (though on some islands because of the curve of the coast they look to be facing the ocean)

Moai of Easter Island (non-Maori) were raised to commemorate distinguished ancestors, not as 'no trespass' signs. Understandable they faced inland then, so worshippers had better access o them.

Perhaps you're thinking of the one row of Moai that does in fact face the sea, but like many other aspects, the reason is greatly debated as to why. Most Moai face inland and it's suspected that they're facing fresh water sources, but it's still only theory (one of many). There is indeed a row of Moai that faces the sea and there are a few primary theories as to why, including facing the direction of the peoples origin.

I thought they all faced outwards.. ok I accept I'm wrong. However, what's the point of having faces on them, if you can't see them? There's facing the wrong way, unless you build on a northern shore or at least a Nor'East / Nor'West shore..

Why would moai builders face them toward your monitor? They have no idea where it is located relative to the moai, and also they don't even know you or your monitor exist.
