Dissappointed in 2k games Privacy Policy
Initially, I was very happy about buying Civ 6. However, the terms of use gave me some concerns.

I understand now that every company collects data such as your IP address when in multiplayer. For example, the websites you visit collect IP address.

What was unsettling to me about the Privacy Policies are the following. The way they were presented was just unprecedented (Civ 5 and Borderlands series did not have such a vast privacy

Here are Proofs:

When I open the game, It says ; your personal information will be shared with countries who have a different privacy terms. I am not happy about my personal information being shared with 3rd parties in other countries.

The game collects my personal information my name. last name and even photos?

My suggestion: All I want is a bit more of privacy. A little less data sharing with 3rd parties or foreigh countries. In other words, if they could tone down the data collection. I just feel like Big Brother is watching (George Orwell reference)

Please email them here if you want them to tone down the data collection a bit

This is my opinion. Feel free to disagree and keep this thread respectful! Thank you.

Why do they need my personal information? And why do you share it? It's just a game I thought! WTF

I don't own the game and have no intention of buying it but this sounds like a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. No company should do this to their customers. Shame on you...

Nominates
Nominate this game for "Worse than previous" or "shares personal information" award!

To everyone:

Please note that +1, "me too", or more verbose things that amount to the same thing, are considered spammish posting on these forums. If you want to talk about this matter, you can do so. If you want a petition, you'll have to do so elsewhere.

"Share" in this case means the data going to another country, not to random other people for no good reason.

Even then it's too much! They don't need to share anything they know about me!

2K, and Take-Two, operate in several countries. That's why they have to tell you that your information will cross borders.

Why do they need my IP adress or personal information?
SamBC Nov 22, 2017 @ 2:54pm
Oh for crying out loud... read that policy. It's not just about the game, it's about everything 2K does online. It's a 2K online privacy policy. So when you, say, engage in a survey on their website, they will log your IP. That is perfectly normal, sometimes even required. What is recorded depends on what you are doing.

Sam I know that but they do not need my IP addreess, Cookies. Think about it this way: If the company who collects my personal information gets hacked. The hacker will know everything about me. He will now where I live (IP address) He will find my real name with ease and can do a lot of scams. Please fix this . Civ 5 did not have all this fuss.
I am a legitimate customer. I buy games legally. Please tell 2k games not punish us

what if i do not want to do a survey it still gets recorded. The wording is still ambigious it says without my consent.

This clause is in there because multiplayer is peer to peer, not server based. OF COURSE they're going to send your IP address to someone else.

As for cookies? That probably has to do with My2k and isn't as big a deal as you think.
