Civ Beyond Earth Rising Tide had that with a Respect meter and a separate Fear meter. Fear was based on the differences in power, including military, economic, and political power. Respect was closer to what we have in Civ6; an AI liking what you do.
I thought it was an interesting concept and it would be good to see that added to Civ6.
I agree. When I play Montezuma (often) I get tired of listening to the AI squawk peace offers at me while I'm busy converting their unwashed masses into polite, helpful builders. I'd rather they all get slowly more afraid than merely enraged.
