The only major differences between the two versions of the game are controller support, (which should have been in the Vanilla PC version in the first place honestly) some updated graphics / animations / sounds and a new difficulty mode which really doesn't add much to the experience.
And you get those amazing features added to the base game just for an additional $25, since you can buy Fable: The Lost Chapters for $9.99.
If I was desperate enough to replay the game I may pay $2.50-5.00 for those additions since I already own the game on steam. But $35? Yeah, no, ♥♥♥♥ that.
You are the only other person on this forum I've seen with common sense.
Since people paying for game they already paid for, price should be cut for 50-75% for everyone who has original, and since game is not made completely from scratch, game should be sold for half a price comparing to new one. So if new Fable would cost 60$, remastered version should be sold for 30$ for everyone, and owners of original should get it for a 10-15$ .
That whould be FAIR practice (if you consider selling patches to existing games a FAIR practice).
And there should exist some sort of validation service for owners of RETAIL copy, like the one Gearbox did for Borderlands 1 recently, people can insert their disk, validation tool will check the disk and if its valid it will enlist game for everyone on steam. In case if there was a CD key its even easier.
Same should be done for every retail game that has a version on steam, so in case of Fable we can use our retail disk to enlist original game on steam and also get a 50-75% off remastered version.
MS what the hell is wrong with you? Graphical upgrade of dated childish RPG i own like almost 10 years already COST almost the same as BRAND NEW UBER MATURE AND SUPER ADVANCED OPEN WORLD RPG OF ALL THE TIMES - The witcher 3!
Because im having Witcher 1 and Withcer 2 Retail, which i activation on steam and gog, CD project provides me -20% for Witcher 3, -10% for each Witcher i own, so i can buy witcher 3 just for 560 RUB in Russia (full price is 700 RUB).
Im having Fable (retail, not on steam), which cost 199 RUB on steam and i once paid full 50$ (plus delivery and taxes more than 1800 RUB) for it, and i can preorder it with -20% for 480 RUB and its full price is 600.
Different between Fable 1 and Witcher 3 full price is 100 RUB about 2.76$, with discount different is 80 RUB = 2.21 $.
Not that its big money, but its a big matter of rational spending of money. For extra 2$ i can get much bigger, much more advanced and most important BRAND NEW GAME I NEVER PLAYED before, and for about same price i get graphical and xbox 360 controller patch for Fable which i already own, finished years ago and for which i already paid full retail price of 50$ + tax and delivery.
Seriolsy i can get brand new witcher 3 for just 15$, and brand old Fable which already sucked more than 50$ in past, wants extra 13$, which would be 63$ spent on same old game i finished.
Fable anniversary is definetly overpriced, its price should be equal to original Fable on steam which is 200 RUB = 5.5$, ok ok i know you greedy MS and that new version has some new things, ok you can get extra 25% of original Fable price for this from me, that would be 250 RUB = 7$ this is is the highest acceptable price for this game in Russia its about half of Witcher 3 price in Russia!
Almost same equations applies to other regions if Fable original cost 10$ you can set extra 25% and charge 12.5$ for Fable anniversary, that would be reasonable price.
Bur right now you have 28$ for Anniversary and 10$ for original in USA, 200 RUB for original and 600 rub for anniversary. 3 times bigger price, 300% of original, extra 200% for graphical update and controller support???
Really??? Are you insane???
Even 2x price of 20$ or 400 Rub would be insane, 1.25 ak 25% is the only option!
I would be you MS, i would lower prices imediately after reading this, and would return different of price to everyone who pre-ordered for a higher price.
And if i would be anyone who pre-ordered for this insane price, i would cancel pre-order.
Also, lets just compare package offers of Fable Anniversary and Witcher 3 per-orders for 600 and 700 rub:
Witcher 3:
- new huge game i have not played yet
- jaw dropping graphics and physics
- A digital version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Artbook
- The official game soundtrack
- Unique Witcher 3: Wild Hunt artworks
- Premium wallpapers
- A digital map of the in-game world
+ not officially claimed but already known - MOD support, so instead of charging for extra content they allow us to make and get more content for free.
Fable Anniversary:
- old not very huge game i already own and finished once
- updated graphics which looks just ok
- controller support
- DLC Pack 1 for free! Includes 8 outfits and 6 weapons.
Wait, are there going to be DLC packs 2, 3, 4 and im not even going to recieve them for free? So im not even getting full game for 300% of price of full game i already paid 50$ for?
No even bonus goods such as intervier with devs, concept arts, design documents, printable posters and maps of words, not sountrack, no wallpapers?
And not even modding support? No even custom tatoo and skins import option that was in original game?
With such a disrespect to customers, MS, you will alienate us all! Learn from CD project, lower price at least the twice, add not in-game bonus content, bring us full game!
And learn basic marketing rule - as higher the price and lower the value of package, as lower the number of sales and less profit you have in the end!
Who said free, numbskull? A discount would be nice.
For a game I originally bought at $5 to $10, $35 is pretty steep if you consider what all is being done. I guess, for the brand new games we buy these days, the storyboarding and concept art is worth $25 because making the newer models and remastering the sound comes to about $35 (according to this game's price tag).
The price is doable, but I think it's more than what it's worth.
because we're the reason those companies are successful
I personally have 3 different copies of Doom 3, purchased it on the day of release, then purchased a copy on a steam sale so it would be tied to my account, and a 3rd time for the BFG edition. handful of other games where I have purchased multiple times too, and no extra copies were given, or special discounts.
