METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Keyboard/controls issue (Stuck moving in 1 direction, other keys held down)
Occasionally (frequently), my character gets stuck running one direction. I have to mash WASD a few times to get him to stop moving. Also, I noticed it happened with the "R" key once, too. Any time I shot, it would immediately start reloading once I stopped shooting, and if I ran past loot, it would pick it up automatically. I couldn't get it to stop by mashing R a bunch, so I had to close the game.

Getting stuck moving happens so frequently I can't even play the game. This is SO frustrating, because this is an amazing game...

Any ideas?

Keeps happening to me as well, happened to me in Ground Zeroes also. I only saw a few posts about the GZ problem and they said turn off steam overlay, I tried that, but it keeps happening.

This worked for me:

Go to device manager

Look for "Vjoy Virtual Joystick" under Human Interface Devices and disable it.

I think if your keyboard is competing with other inputs for attention (like a gamepad or joystick or virtual joystick) then you can run into issues

It's a strange glitch that just happens sometimes. It's super easy to fix though, the instant it happens just tap whatever direction you're moving and you'll stop.

I was mashing wasd at first also, screaming at the screen in frustration as snake ran out into a group of enemies after I just spent 20 painstaking minutes sneaking past half the base... but once I realized I could just tap the direction, it's become nothing more than a minor annoyance at best.

That works sometimes, but other times, he just keeps running, no matter what I do.

I thought this worked (disabled the 360 in device manager), but it started doing it again. Much less frequently, i think.

New issue, though. My binocs CONSTANTLY zoom out no matter what I do....

Bump, still no fix

It's an issue for me too.
I believe it has something to do with the dreadful M&KB support.

This needs to be patched. Literally a gamebreaking bug.

Thanks everyone, Try reinstalling, and going into the device manager, and disable anything like "virtual keyboard" or "virtual gamepad", or the 360 gamepad.

It doesn't completely fix it, but it makes the game at least semi-playable (it doesn't happen as frequently)

Also, try reinstalling the game (that's another thing I did that reduced the number of "stuck keys per play session", lol)

Anyone having issues, what is your hardware config?

I5 2500k @ 4.5ghz, 2x GTX 970, 1440p monitor, 16gb ram, Ducky shine4 kb.

Happens to me too (in GZ as well). It's starting to get really annoying... Driving is a nightmare, have had several occasions where I almost crashed because the car kept steering right. Sneaking can also turn into a disaster thanks to this.

Windows 7 x64
i7 2700K
GTX 960
8GB RAM
Ducky Zero DK2108 / Zowie FK

I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows 10 or 8 on a separate partition, installing as few drivers and programs as possible to see if the issue still persists.

EDIT: Did a clean Windows 8.1 install. Literally only installed NVIDIA driver and Steam, but the bug still popped up multiple times.
